I'm still trying to get a handle on the differences between the PC Edition of Minecraft (which seems to be the focus of the Minecraft Wiki), and the Xbox Live Arcade Edition of Minecraft. There are so many cool things I am discovering on the Wiki, and it's hard to tell whether or not they even exist in MCX360. So I thought I'd start this thread where people can say what they wish they could do in MCX360 that they could do in other Editions, such as on the PC.
Beacons I've been reading about Beacons, tall pillars of light that can be seen from far away. That sounds awesome! Trouble is, they require a Nether Star to craft, which apparently is only dropped by a Wither, which is a boss mob that is not available in MCX360 currently. So, as far as I can see, it would be impossible to make a beacon in MCX360. I don't even think this is something that they will be implementing in the next update, TU12.
What do you want to be able to do in MCX360 that you can't already do, but could do it in other Editions?
EDIT:I just found this similar old thread that was locked by a moderator for creating "platform wars". Please note that I'm not trying to start any such war here. I just want to see what is clearly NOT available in the MCX360 Edition, so that I don't waste my time later trying to do something in-game that is impossible, like making a Beacon. I have no platform preference, personally. I only have Minecraft for Xbox 360, I don't own, nor have played, any other Edition.
Hi, I'm Augur and I'm from New Zealand (NZ). Just call me "Augur". I'm an older person playing Minecraft Xbox 360 Legacy Console Edition without Xbox Gold (no online gaming, sorry), so please don't hate on the old. 😄
I agree that the wiki should be divided into different sections by platform to make it easier, but then there would be a lot of duplication (why list how to make a wood sword 3 times?). OR it could note which things are available to which platform(s), but that would take a lot of updating and upkeep to keep current.
Another way to look at it is, there's things you can do in the 360 version you can't do in the PC one either (crafting method, split-screen, etc. comes to mind).
Thanks Geneo. I have already read that page, and paid particular attention to the "differences" section, but it seems very light on information. For instance, there is no mention at all about Beacons or Withers on the page you linked to. For someone who is new to both Minecraft and the Minecraft Wiki, it is hard to tell the difference between what is seen on the wiki and what is available in-game for the MCX360 Edition. I'm asking in this thread about what people know is NOT possible in the Xbox 360 Edition, but which is possible on other platforms.

would be nice to have a marking of some kind on the wiki to specify what is on the xbox edition... Kinda how terraria is done with the controller symbol. To let you know that this is on the xbox, although on that games wiki it means exclusive, however if was done on the minecraft one they could put a note saying this is not exclusive to the console edition, it is just saying that this is what is included in the console edition.
That way they could add a few extra notes with the differences on those pages for things that work a bit differently than pc. Like the crafting system and possibly mooshroom island spawns... Monsters actually spawn on those on the xbox edition and not on the pc edition. (unless they changed that recently) Also the animal spawning is a bit different than on the pc edition. The limitations for certain items as well. Those could be special notes... Each section that has a piece that xbox has modified to some degree could have that console icon with a note attached.
Well that is what I think, but for some reason, even if it sounds feasible to do, I just don't see that happening anytime soon, if at all...
I mainly just trial and error things, if not do a lot of research before hand on certain subjects...But I know many that would not go through the trouble of all that...lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Some great feedback thanks, Tamorr. Actually, this is exactly what I'm planning to do with the information that I hope to gather in this thread. I want it to be a kick-start for my little project on the wiki for Highlighting Edition-Specific Information (HESI). Is there something in particular that you thought you'd be able to do on the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft, only to find that it's not possible?

Please do not post wishlist threads as a suggestion. A suggestion thread should contain an idea for a unique feature that is thought out, or a group of closely related ideas that work together.

Also check the "Differences from PC Edition" section.
