So I don't know if this a normal abnormality or if I have some discovered some weird bug. But each time I exit my map without saving and then re-enter the stronghold I found changes.
For instance the first time I went in there was a wall of stone blocking off the room where the door to the hallway that leads to the end portal and the third time I went in second time being in creative) I could get to where the door would be but there was nothing there. I'm not as concerned as I am curious as to why this is if anyone knows.
When you exit without saving, and a world hasn't autosaved, then when you load it again, it must completely generate the world from scratch like the first time you made it. While the seed is the same, the seed really only dictates that the terrain and general location of structures stays similar. However, as far as I know, it does not dictate that a structure will be the same every time a map is created using that seed.
I think it is entirely possible that your Stronghold is changing if you haven't ever saved the map in any way. If you have saved the map previously and are just loading it again from that save, it sounds like a bug too me.

OP - Yes!.. Finally, someone else who is experiencing this sort of thing...now, maybe a chance to break it down more and understand what's happening.
MG - I disagree at little bit because my infamous disappearing and reappearing mineshaft (which came and went after exiting without saving) did this AFTER I had saved at least once in the world before the exit without saving. An exit without saving just takes the world back to the point it was at when the last save the world occurred (or should... if it's not, then that would be a bug). However, with my mineshaft, it is possible that area of the world had not been generated on that first save... so, your thought may hold some water. I WAS flipping between creative and survival modes... and I do know first hand that some things (chests mostly) do change in structures depending on whether they are generating in survival or in creative mode and there was certainly a bug in this (re the nether) a few TUs back.
OP - My mineshaft issue occured in the TU7 tutorial world (which can't be generated anew anymore). Would you please post your seed string, so I can "experiment" with it. I would LOVE to get to the bottom of this one!
Is it possible that you have selected the option "Reset Nether" when loading the game? Sorry for the overly simple answer, but I'm still quite new to Minecraft myself.

Hi, I'm Augur and I'm from New Zealand (NZ). Just call me "Augur". I'm an older person playing Minecraft Xbox 360 Legacy Console Edition without Xbox Gold (no online gaming, sorry), so please don't hate on the old. 😄

Except that strongholds are not found in the nether. I think you're confusing them with nether fortresses. Even so, resetting the nether produces the same initial nether each time anyway (based on the seed string). The only time a nether fortress or the nether terrain should change is if there is an update occurring between the time the world was generated and when the nether was reset... and ONLY even then if that update involved a change to something in the nether generation code.
Thanks for the clarification, UpUp_Away95. You're right, I was confusing Strongholds with Nether Fortresses. I haven't seen a Stronghold yet. I've only been playing for a couple of weeks.
