Hi, I have a beta 1.6 survival world that I still play on. It seems after every update it seems to get laggier (ESPECIALLY in splitscreen) I have been thinking it's because of all of the builds we have in it but i'm not sure. I have also recently looked at my save and it was 22 MB! I have heard a way to rewrite the save so it's 9MB but i don't know how to do it. Could somebody tell my how do rewrite my save or if there is a way to make it less laggy.
Thank you

How do you manage to have 1.6 beta world? I'm lost right now. Xbox version has no betas. Splitscreen on PC? Do you know what you are even talking about? Sorry, i'm literally lost o_o

The world is essentially TU0.
And my only thought is to stop as much redstone and water/lava flows as possible.
In addition, if you have an animal farm with 30+ animals within close proximity of one another, the sound overlap may lag some.
Moving things as well as many animals in one place tend to cause lag, more notably in multiplayer.
When i tried to load my world i haven't played in a long time its freezes instantly other worlds
The terrain is REALLY weird and all my work done on that save is deleted
Due to 4J adding stuff every update it gets laggier. In my old world. I run about 30-45 FPS. That's due to the cause of having so much item frames and redstone. Signs is a huge big thing but I decreased the limit. Back when 1.8 came out, my world crashed so much to the point where I had to put it on peaceful but I had a 20% chance of loading the world. There's a reason why you can't make water slides or "Boat slides". They made the signs different or a "Full block".
What I recommend you to do is, either take down most of you signs or take down a LOT of "small" redstone projects.
If you rename the file, then the game will TEMPORARILY compress it to about 9 MB. However, the first time you open the file after the rename, it will expand it again (I believe to it's previous size). I'm not sure if it would help rid the file of some unnecessarily data and/or data errors in the process and thereby improve your lag issues. It's worth a try. However, I would advise using the rename function carefully. Backup the file to a USB (or cloud) before renaming it on your hard drive. If it doesn't work, DO NOT attempt to save the backup back to the hard drive after renaming the file without first deleting the renamed file from the hard drive... or alternatively, just continue using the renamed file on the hard drive.
As others have mentioned, doing things like reducing the amount of exposed redstone (i.e. reducing the number of lighting updates the game has to make because of redstone going on and off) can help reduce lag. Managing the number of animals in an area can also reduce lag. Lag will increase as the players space themselves out on the map and as they travel farther away from the point where they joined the game. Try saving and exiting the game entirely every so often to clear off chunks that may have loaded as you travelled about the map during that session.
Also, in splitscreen, lag does seem to frequently occur when two players try to open chests at the same time or use crafting benches, furnaces, brewing stands, etc. simultanously. In splitscreen, however, it is easy to just glance over at the other players' screens to see what they're doing and, perhaps, wait a split second until they close that chest or exit that interface.
Thank you
