So I have a giant town which has houses tools and food that get sold to players from shops and whatnot but I am trying to come up with a currency system this is what i have so far:
I think that it would be hard to create a currency system for minecraft like this, as for it would change so much.
It would just depend on what someone was doing or building. Sorta like free trade.
If the currency system went like this, I would just mine a giant "mineshaft" and trade all my minerals for diamonds.
But what do you think about this system?
Wood should cost more
Cobblestone shouldn't cost anything
Wool should cost more
Clay should cost alot
MossStone is hard to find and could be a currency?
Anything that takes awhile to find or time to make (sandstone) should cost more
The most successful currency system I saw was all virtual and centred around an Iron Ingot, which had a base value of 10.
From there, only processed items would be bought / sold from the stores with a few exceptions.
You could try using something like that if you have Microsoft Excel....
If you are looking for a rare item that will allow you to control the value you of an item, then I would say sponge. It can only be obtained in Creative mode.
Personally for my server I'm planning on using gold and diamond as they are real world currencies (or use to be). Plus they can be found either through mining or by killing Zombie Pigman.
The pricing for the currency I'm basing off of the crafting process with a tweak.
Minerals:
Gold - $5
Iron - $5
Coal - $0.50
Diamond - $30
Redstone- $0.25
Blocks/Other:
Cobble $0.50
Log $0.50
Wool $1
Glass $1
Seeds: $0.25
Wheat: $0.50
what do you think about this system? please comment your thoughts

1 gold nugget= $1
9 nuggets/1 gold ingot= $9
9 ingots/ 1 gold block = $81
9 gold blocks/1 diamond = $729
9 diamonds/ 1 diamond block = $6,561
