About a month ago some friends started building with snowblocks on my server and they got me hooked on them. They were building modern houses but I just like the material because:
1- it's infinite
2- can be mined anywhere in a very confined area
3- looks good
4- torches and other light sources don't melt it.
5- i like the sound when walking on it.
I have seen a village made of snow blocks that was peopled with snow golems. That was neat. So how many other people build with snow blocks?
Video for snow block generator. Very simple to build.
I found out about the unrealistic durability of snow blocks very recently. I'm planning on replacing some ceilings and interior walls with them, for starters. I'll see what else I can come up with after that.
I have 2 snow golems leaving snow trails in my farm area. Those things won't despawn, will they? I've had them for days, and I've mined tons of snow from them without even confining them.
Snow houses with ice windows is a very cool look, indeed. Furnish it with some nice spruce logs and leaves, maybe some birch planks or stone, it can make an excellent house.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
I tend to use multiple blocks when constructing structures, but if I need a Christmas themed structure I will use snow blocks.
They are good for those with limited blocks, but they don't look good in my usual house building areas. (Deserts, forests)
i used flat snow to decorate the outside of a castle. and snow blocks to terraform a mountain around it. dirt with snow on top looks hideous to me..... but yea. i use literally every material known to steve when building so ive used them a few times.....
also you guys should try cauldrons as a ceiling material, and dispensers/furnaces as a walkway. and extended pistons with slabs in front backed with glowstone make some great stair.
I once built a really large tower out of snow blocks interspersed with some obsidian and glowstone. It looked really good, especially at night. Sadly, I had to nickname it Creeper Bait...

Is it a chicken or is it a duck? - It's a chuck, because dicken sounds stupid.

The issue with ice windows is that they will melt with torches or glowstone. Redstone torches can be used, but won't offer much light.

Build your floor out of half slabs and transparent blocks and you don't have to worry about lighting o:
As far as lighting for aesthetics and not strictly for cutting monster spawns goes, the range on ice melting is acceptably short that you can have ice windows, redstone torches for wall lighting, and a strong light source in the center. If you have a large enough house, you can provide adequate lighting without worrying about ice melting.

Yeah they don't despawn.. but are hurt by rain...
This is a Pun Filled Extravaganza! I do like snow blocks for like flooring.. like you said I like the way it sounds.. all padded-like

I also find it interesting how they break equally as quickly underwater....
Stay fluffy~

That right there is a typical house made by Keralis.

Did you know that snow isnt affected by any efficiency tool?
That can be useful sometimes...
