I am trying to plant different crops and half of them keep dieing. I ran water right by all of the blocks and half of the dirt won't stay hydrated. Please help.
The water has to be next to the tilled blocks, or within a few blocks *horizontally* (not above, not below). I've never had a problem with this. You don't trample your crops, or let animals jump over an obstacle on your crops, do you?

Water should hydrate around 4 blocks away
