Swim party... maybe they will start using those lillypads as pillows when you are not watching... If you do not get what I mean look in the Main minecraft news section for "Villager News" That aught to give you an idea what they do when eyes are not on them. I always wondered why they ended up in those 2 deep holes...lol
I walled my village up, literally a wall runs around the village. before that it was a fence, of course I had to cart some back and even put them into a house. There is still 1 missing that wandered off like a hermit into the swamp though. I haven't seen em' recently so can't really do anything about that. But if I ever find that one again I will fence em' in on the spot and build a hermit house for em'. At least I know where to look if I wanted. no way am I going to build track over that wall to get this one back inside the walled town.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

I have one that wandered off and now just stands out in the middle of a field. I can see him from the top of my tower. It amuses me to go up and watch him at night when it's raining. I like to make up internal dialogue for him; I imagine him to be very passive-aggressive.
"Oh, it's raining again.
I'll bet that guy is watching me from the top of the the tower.
I really should wander over there and tell him to stop.
Maybe if I ignore him and just stand here he'll go away.
I think he's still there, I shall ignore him more vehemently.
I'm getting quite wet standing out in the rain.
Perhaps I should go ask him for shelter so I can dry off? No, that would mean he has won.
I shall stand here in my field, in the rain, until he quits watching me stand in the rain.
And, it's getting dark. Sigh."
What do you expect? Squidward from Spongebob needs to be in the water. Why wouldn't these Squidwards need the same.
lol. when you say die do you mean they walk into the ocean and instantly die?Or are they just drowning? If it's #1, they probobly just walked out of their "zone" and died. kinda like us when we somehow break through bedrock.

perhaps you should fence theyr village off from the ocean
Pull out a few fishing rods and yank them into some place where they can be contained until their AI is updated.
