Microsoft has said that you won't be able to transfer your Minecraft save files from the game's Xbox 360 version to the just-announced Xbox One Edition.
Boom.
The confirmation came from Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer, who blamed the fact that the Xbox One Edition was simply "a new product".
"No, it's a new product on Xbox One," Spencer told OXM. "We're actually updating it in pretty significant ways for the new platform. Bigger worlds, which don't translate between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One."
Minecraft's Xbox 360 developer 4J Studios previously stated on Twitter that it was "discussing" the issue of save transfers with Microsoft. Until we hear otherwise, this appears to be the outcome of those discussions.
4J Studios has confirmed that the Xbox 360 edition will continue to be updated after the Xbox One version is released, however.
The Xbox One Edition will boast bigger worlds and expanded multiplayer support, Microsoft announced during its E3 press conference.
I would be shocked if they did transfer. It's a different system with larger worlds and more multiplayer capabilities. Why would anyone think it would transfer?

It would actually make sense if they did transfer, it's just like picking up this smaller world... and placing it right in the middle of a much larger world. They are still discussing if they will/will not transfer, read more here.
yeah but would it be so easy, cause they are completely different architectures between the two boxes
well the game is coded slightly different yes. and the architectures are different. but that has to do more with the game mechanics and interface. where as each block has a coded numerical value that hasn't changed. so in that respect it would be easy. they just have to figure out how to connect some sort of file share to transfer the worlds over. cloud maybe but the two sets of cloud servers are not inherently connected. they may heve to create some small driver to recode a small part or patch the maps once transferred. we could see a few issues with this though. maybe blocks wont transfer properly. or worlds will re teraform around our strutures this kind of stuff will determine whether or not we get to use map transfer.
what many people are overlooking though is they are working toward some sort of backwards compatibility, whether or not this will expand into something more is uncertain.
also this may lead to us having a game mechanic to transfer world saves between players

I believe that they are just humoring us at this point

Me neither. Keep playing 360 games on the 360, where they belong.
