OK i have made houses before but they all suck they just don't look to good. whn i look online nothing helps so i went to this site hopeing u guys could help me so can you help me by telling me how to make my houses look good or tell me where to go to find out?

I always google pictures of real life houses that look nice and try to base my building off the pictures.

When I need ideals I go on youtube and see how other people build their houses. One of my favorite builders is keralis you should check out his channel you will learn alot of decoration and landscape tricks.

I really like Emily_2010's houses and other buildings. Check out her guide, and look for other pics of her creations. I used her design for my farmhouse (this one).

The way I always make my homes and buildings is I go and I look up something like Modern House, then I go and I think how can I do this in Minecraft and then at last I begin I always work from bottom to top and never get ahead of myself.

I just recently built a house using a tutorial here, on the MC forums. It's really simple to make! The creator has a video tutorial and another below with pictures. There is a list of stuff that you must get before building! If you are interested, you can find the page here!

See YouTube for how to make a nice house. You need to focus on contrast, using a combination of materials that go well together (like sandstone + nether brick). Cobble / wood makes nice flooring, & stone brick / nether brick / wood makes good walls. Use glass, leaves, or slabs / stairs for a slanted roof + skylights. Vines & / or intentional flaws make it look natural too. See Etho's videos of his Let's Play to see his undergound house based in a cave to see what I mean (minus not having an exterior). Vinatge Beef makes nice houses too, that are aboveground. Using bonemeal to make grass, planting flowers & trees, & fixing creeper craters can make the landscape look nice too.

Nobody can tell you what you think will look good. It's all down to personal opinion. One of us may think something looks awesome, yet you may think it looks horrible.

The best thing to do in your situation is too just look at pictures or videos, from both Minecraft and real life, and see if anything strikes your fancy. I recommend browsing the Creations section here. Or just simply going to Google and typing in Minecraft Houses.

This may not be extremely helpful but it may open up some doors. The multiples of 3 look pleasing to the eye; for example, build rooms in multiples of 3 such as 6x9x3 and if you can group windows in lines of three it'll generally look good. Of course, looking at others work helps too! Check out the youtubes!

I have made some very nice maps before and since im great with redstone, i made it 4 floors (basement, 1st floor, redstone floor, and 2nd(really the third floor) and ran redstone throughout the entire house and added zombie lockdown defenses. if you would like to visit my map, your more than welcomed to! message me on xbox live @designflaww

Couldn't agree more! Build what you like. Nobody is paying you. For all you know you could make the next big MC design that everyone copies.

You should make a house made out of workbenches. Or you could make a house with a base of cobblestone with a small room of glass on the roof. After you've made the house fill the glass with lava. I know those are really simple but you should try them anyways.
