Knockback 2 is one of my must-have enchantments. It makes dealing with creepers a piece of cake. Looting is also nice, especially when killing creepers and endermen with it for one additional gunpowder or ender pearl, respectively.
Sharpness is very effective against every mob. Several enchantments like fire aspect have mobs they don't harm. Fire aspect doesn't hurt nether mobs or ender dragon.
I love looting! Looting III to be exact... specially when you're working on a drop farm like Skeleton spawner or in a server situation where animals are hard to come by.......... you get fire aspect and looting 3 and watch those cooked meats stack up!

I was trying to get three chests worth of gunpowder together and I thought I'd never get that much before I got Looting on a sword. I'm gonna be so PO'd when that sword breaks.
Sharpness IV is a must...otherwise it becomes a mob-grinder sword.
For my mega-armor line-up, I Keep enchanting until I get Sharpness IV, Knockback II, Looting III, and Fire Aspect II.
Its a rare enchantment, but I get it about one in 10. I grind in a blaze spawner, so its one fire potion, one strength potion, extended. I get enough hits in by the end of one string of potions to enchant again...not a bad setup overall.

Stick with Sharpness IV or Sharpness III. It makes it better with Fire Aspect II
