I was checking some online stores for Xbox one games and noticed Minecraft is listed as $59.99, just curious if any confirmation on this? If its true I still will be buying it but it better have a lot more to offer!
Considering I hadnt even found any confirmation it was going to be a retail version from the get go I shall wait and see, so far it could just be stores putting it up at the same price as all the other games.
They haven't released prices yet. Actually, 4J Studios (the ones that put Minecraft on Xbox) is talking with Microsoft to see if they can make everyone who has it on the 360, get the game free on the One.
What Microsoft has confirmed is that they will be maintaining the current $59.99 price point for their first-party games on the Xbox One. Minecraft is a third-party game, not a first-party game, so this announcement should not apply to it.

No they're not. Microsoft would only give away 6,000,000+ free copies of a game if hell froze over.
4J is talking to Microsoft about the possibility of peoples worlds carrying over from the Xbox 360 Edition to the Xbox One Edition. They are not trying to give everyone the game for free. https://twitter.com/...201332967763968
The game would be $26.95 at the maximum to match the PC versions price.

thats awesome. i hope so and that is actually the best new ive heard about mineraft ONE edition.
truth be told we have no clue what the price will actually be. since there is no standard price for arcade games on the ONE yet.
like others have said its probably just the standard price tag for first party games. like halo, borderlands. battlefield. and it just got placed on minecraft to hold the plae of an unknown price since they cant put a price of 0.00 or a big ole ? mark and sine if they put 20.00s people would be ed if it came out and was 30.00 it better to say 59.99 and later change it so people are relieved and not furious. its all psychology.
of course this could also just be a typo and we could be over thinking its significance there's always that. lol.

How would that work exactly? Would you have an island surrounded by water in the center of the map? At the very least it would cause some pretty interesting terrain generation!

Considering that the world generation just cuts off like it was sliced with a knife, it would likely just start generating right where the 360 worlds stopped.

Thinks that's an error, all the info I have heard is that games will be a little more expensive. bout 10. more
Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One console represents the company's most ambitious effort to date to propel gaming into the cloud. Physical media will still exist, but by and large, Microsoft envisions console gamers purchasing and organizing titles in a Steam-like fashion, a method that has worked well for PC gamers. Steam's distribution platform also paved the way for deep discounts and frequent sales on top titles. Might we expect the same or similar price savings on the Xbox One? Perhaps eventually, but not at launch.
A representative for Microsoft told Polygon that Xbox One games will carry the same price tag as today's titles, meaning you can expect to pay $60 for a triple-A game. "I can confirm that Microsoft Studios games on Xbox One will be $59.99 (MSRP)," the un-named representative is quoted as saying
How does this indicate that games will be about $10 more? The current Microsoft recommended price (MSRP) for the games they produce (first-party games) is $59.99. The MS rep is confirming that Microsoft will continue to recommend a price of $59.99 for the games that Microsoft produces. That is not $10 more, it is the same as it is for the Xbox 360 first-party games. In addition, Minecraft is not a Microsoft first-party game. It is essentially a third-party game, originally written by Mojang and produced for Xbox by 4J Studios. Therefore, I really don't think this announcement applies to Minecraft although some stores do seem to listing a pre-order price of $59.96. However, I doubt that Mojang and 4J would expect to be able to sell it at a price way more expensive than the PC version unless it is waaay more advanced than the PC version - and the trailer doesn't indicate that it is.
The most simple way to do this, would set up the game to use the old world, but have a seperate function to do so, but they would need to add an update to the 360 version, that would add a text file or something to the save that says something and the xbox one version would read that know its a 360 save, then not let world generation happen out of the 1000x1000 section, very simple idea, plus wont take long to code into the xbox one version.
Considering that the world generation just cuts off like it was sliced with a knife, it would likely just start generating right where the 360 worlds stopped.
i was just about to say that. lol
theres a few ways they could one that makes sense to me would be an mc edit style program on pc linked to your xbox live account that uses the cloud, this would also convert any necessary code so the worlds would run properly. thats just a thought thou. but i bet loud would be an important tool in this world share..... though im not sure how they could connect the 300,000 xbox one servers to the 15,000 or so 360 servers.
the world generation can get a bit messy when new chunks are generated into old worlds. its been one of the arguments surrounding updates that allow bigger worlds on the 360. that will probably be one of the main determining factors in whether worlds will carry over.
i really hope so. ive been working on my world and would love to expand it and still get to work on my projects.

thats already in the game. its been shown. when you load a world and explore the chunks you "discover" are generated and saved while undiscovered chunks will be terraformed according to any new world generators.

Sometimes I wonder how people can miss concepts as simple as this, then I remember, most people here are kids.
Yes, you are correct, but Microsoft confirmed today that they won't.
