I have an underground rail system I built in my world, at around Y level 10-12. Every now and then when I use it, there will be water, lava, or gravel spawned somewhere along the tracks. I feel like it just comes out of nowhere. I'm quite confident it's not anyone else that plays on my world, so is this supposed to be happening?
I also have some areas of my underground track at Y12 where water and lava seem to reappear all the time. I've removed the source blocks, mined and refilled the area several times. That particular world is only played offline (offline local gamertag created the world so it cannot be played online). I have noted that these events seem to all occur near the edges of the world, but I have no idea why or how to stop it.
one reason I don't build a minecart system at edge... strange things happen... Although despite that I would only suggest maybe moving it over a bit so it would happen less. farther from the edge, the less likely of such things occurring. blocks are easy enough to replace, but lava and water are technically no so easy to deal with at the edge.
Also note at y12 is the top of the shallows of lava lakes tend to be, so it in a way makes sense. I don't usually go that low to build my rail lines. Mainly to avoid having to clean up per say while making it...lol
apparently there is more to it when building on that level, so readjusting the rail line over a bit might help, however that means a lot of work in your case... could make it 2 blocks over from the place where blocks appear/disappear. Make a short wall with the trouble area like a trough to catch those unwanted liquids. would make and interesting look along the railway. At least I would think so...:D
It is an idea in the very least to hopefully help. No guarantee it will work, but only one way to find out...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
There is some weirdness that occurs at the edge of the world.
I had a massive line at the edge that lead up to the sky.
I came back in one day and there were two water springs and a lava spring that had generated there. ._.

I guess I wasn't really looking to fix it (maybe if it was really easy). Just wanted to know if this was unusual, but apparently it is quite normal on the edge. As you said, it would be a lot of work to modify, so i just fix it as it breaks.

Interesting, all of mine do as well. Mine is literally around the edge of the world, so every problem has been near the edge as well.

Stay fluffy~
Sorry, thought it was funny. but seriously, the edge of the world is just weird...I would just stay somewhat far away from it.
on a side note, also don't use a boat right next to the edge of the world...it has a tendency to kill them off quick.
