So you think they are just going to let you give the disc to a friend and he's going to be able to put it in his XBO and play it without paying a fee first?
Deluded
That is exactly how it works. You can lend a game once to a friend that has been on your friends list for at least 30 days, for free. Please don't make personal insults. I have not insulted you or anyone else in this thread so do not do it to me.
As Kmack11 said, there are ways around this. You can pick 10 people that have access to your games at any time they please from their Xbox One.
It should be also noted that there will be options to turn the kinect off when the console is in standby, or disable the device entirely if you so desire. People making mountains out of molehills in this topic....
Also everyone should note that microsoft is looking at alternatives to the 24-hour check-in. One such alternative would be that you would need the physical disc in the drive for it to work. Another is the ability to tether your smart phone to your xbox and authenticate that way.

The trouble with any of those is... how does it work for those you share the games with as they have said you can give people access to your library, well they arent gonna have the disk, they aret gonna have your phone..
In addition, Microsoft has revealed that up to ten players in your “family” can have access to your shared library of games from any console, and you’ll be able to access your full library of games and play them from any connected Xbox One.
As far as the disk goes:
1- You only need a disk to install the game on your HD. A game will only run from the HD, and once installed authorization is tied to your gamer tag, not the disk.
2- I'd say "disks" are going away (or the number greatly reduced), and shortly pretty much everything will be digital download. Not only will that save on DVD production costs, the publishers are assured of almost 100% payment from all players. Think a minute. Sony is saying you can 'share all you want', and gamers are beside themselves because they think Sony is being so 'consumer friendly'.
In the meantime, the publishers are thinking "What!?! What's with this 'share all you want' BS? We got millions per game in R&D to recover! 'Share all you want'? Easy for them to say! What if they collected payment for only half (or less) of their consoles?"

and? If authentication is required for the shared games, then your buddies wont have access to your games until you authenticate. pretty simple. How does that effect YOUR ability to play your own games? Keep grasping at straws.

Yes, but they are looking at alternatives to the 24hr check-in. So instead of having to be on the internet to authenticate, you could just pop the disc into the system, similar to how it works on the 360 when you have a game installed.
PAH!!!
Xboner is POO,i'm getting PS4 cus is AWSUM
Suck on that Microdick
Thanks for furthering the discussion with such titillating conversation points.
On topic: From what I've seen and experienced talking to others about the Xbox One, 75% of the backlash and dislike for the console is all complete misinformation. I've run into numerous people here and other places that have assumed a large amount of things and are completely wrong about others.
Same goes for the PS4. I run into a lot of people that don't know you will have to pay for Playstation Plus to play multiplayer. A lot of people are also unaware that Sony is allowing Publishers the same freedom as Microsoft. Meaning publishers can charge places like Gamestop an extra fee to sell games used as well as put restrictions through the PS4 on games you bought used.

Because they can share at ANY time for your library, online they authorise check with them being connected, which cannot happen with the possibilities you mention.

Once again, how does that impact your ability to play your own games?

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.
So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.
Now I'll be able to play some games in Afghan. I'm excited now. I already have one on pre-order, but wouldn't be able to play it due to basic and the fact that it requires a connection at least once every 24-hours. Thank you Microsoft.
Does it, though? I havent seen any mention on how that will affect the family share feature..
It is implied farther down in the article since he goes on to say that downloaded games cannot be shared or resold; but you're correct, there could still be some sort of exception/arrangement made re family accounts (i.e. a return of the Family Pack in some form). It just might cost a little more than an individual gold membership again.

Likely yes.
Disc based games now require the disc to be in the tray to play them, just like the Xbox 360. That means you couldn't share the installed/downloaded version of it because that person would likely not have the disc since you're attempting to share the game with them.
The family share is gone because where as previous a game was linked to an account so all another account linked to it had to do as confirm the game as still registered to the owner. Now that the disk is the DRM there is no way for that to happen so the family share is gone. As it the ability to play any game from any xbox if you log into your account unless of course you want to take all your disks with you then it works fine.

People wanted there to be no restrictions. In order for that to happen, Microsoft had to remove some of the cool things they were going to do. Oh well. People want the same old, same old instead.
The Xbox One was going to work like Steam does, which had me excited.

We just won't know what exactly until they say something. They're preparing to announces the changes soon.

I don't see the new consoles encouraging better (or more) games at all. This is a huge blow to the publishers. Look for lots more games download only.
