Iv been building my city in the sky atop my bedrock tower for awhile now (new sky limit means ill have to add to it). Today I build 3 simple clocks with 2 sticky pistons on each clock, pushing an encased glowstone. That way I would have 6 glowstone gowing up and down. Figured it would be a cool "powerplant". As soon as I got all 6 running, the lag hit. It was horrendous. So, fyi 6 auto pistons is lagtastic.
Side note, anyone else run into somethings not working in their world? A bunch of redstone clocks I cant get to work, multiple sand generators that people say work with current update wont, etc.
Sorry to tell you this, but your wrong. Its not your redstone or pistons that are laggy, its the lighting updates your causing. Light the areas around your redstone up to max light level and you will see the lag disappear. Its the rs torches, repeaters, and glowstone lighting the area up, which causes the game to "think" about what the new light level should be.
I had 60 block swappers, 3 pistons each running in one of my previous worlds for an outdoor lighting system...it near froze the game, but when I pre-lit the areas, it was fine.
It takes a lot more redstone to lag the game than that. I agree with JSPRINGY in that the lighting changes are causing your lag. If you enclose your redstone and through some glowstone/jack o lanterns in with it, and you shouldn't have as much of a problem

I would be able to build my dream machine!
