so with this achievement do i need to build a long strait rail from one side of the world to the other to the other?
and am i able to make any turns in the rail at all ?

I think I tried it with turns and it didn't work, so what I ended up doing was just go in a straight line from almost one side of the map to the other. It had a large body of water in my seed so it made it easier to make it a straight shot!
It needs to be 500 or more blocks in a straight line.
It's easiest to know how long it is by starting at an "X00" point on the map and counting up in increments of 100; so if you started at -100, you would receive it at +400.
all you need is iether a bunch of powered rails or a powered minecart and 500 rails total in one direction meaning no turns it can go up and down just cant turn its really an easy achievment to get
Yes, you can have turns in it, as long as it goes far enough in one direction. The track that I used for it had several bends along the way, and it worked fine.

yes, turns are completely fine. Mine has a few. Just as long as you go 500mmin one direction (north, south, east, or west) then your good. Turns will obviously take up more rails though, so it is less efficient than just going straight
its best to do it in one straight line if you turn it resets the count i think dont quote me

What I did to go for this was connect 2 rail systems that normally are separate, then go the distance for both of them together. It wasn't built specifically for the achievement, so it had quite a few turns. But the linear distance from one end to the other was enough to get it.
