O You're acting like I killed somebody. If you or anybody else gets griefed, deal with it. No one died. No one got hurt (physically). You shouldn't be overreacting.
I'll take in all of the hate from you or anybody else, but it's not that big of a deal.
IMO emotional harm is widely regarded as get over it.
The mind doesn't forget experiences for a reason to prevent bad experiences from happening again, you can actually cause major issues in how people view themselfs.
A punch in the face is a black eye for a week or so... A confidence problem sets somebody backwards for life.
As I said people like you don't go into depth of potential harm on somebody.

C'mon! Someone gettting depressed or something about getting griefed....in Minecraft? I've never seen that.
People don't take kindly too it. You can also be banned from Xbox Live for it as it likely falls under harassment. Just because you aren't hurting anything real or anyone physically doesn't mean you should do it.
That's really obvious...There's a very low chance of someone being hurt inside, There's an exit without saving button; along with many other settings to stop griefers. A lot of people seem to not notice it.
C'mon! Someone gettting depressed or something about getting griefed....in Minecraft? I've never seen that.
Think of an example this way.
Art project / science fair project / construction project (ect...) = Minecraft build.
It does not matter if it is a pile or dirt, or a grand intricate design.
Person A, built said project and worked very hard and was very proud of it.
Person B, destroys project.
All of person A's work crushed, destroyed. Something they were very proud of gone just because person B thought it was fun.
Person A loses confidence...why rebuild the project again if someone is just going to destroy it? Why even bother? Why should person A bother with anything anymore if another Person B is just going to come along later?
Depression is a feeling of helplessness. It affects many for all different kinds of reasons. It can cause harm, and it can be fatal depending on how sever someone's depression is.
People can say "it's just a game", but regardless if it is a game or not, someone took time to make something. Person B may not realize it, or if they do, they don't care.
It's really "hard" to see anyone on the other side of a Minecraft character. Everyone has just a blocky static look. You can't tell emotion from just text / minecraft characters.
Those who take pride in making others cry just to get that reaction...they're just bullies.
Yes, griefers are bullies.
Take a look at how children react to being bullied at school.
Does everyone just "get over it", fight back? No...some don't know how. Some don't know how to get help, or are too afraid to get help.
There are children/teenagers who are bullied every day to different degrees. Some bear with it, some fight back, some even turn to bully another to continue the cycle...but others take a more tragic way out.
Am I saying you're killing people? No.
Am I saying that griefers have the potential to set this off on some people? Absolutely.
C'mon! Someone gettting depressed or something about getting griefed....in Minecraft? I've never seen that.
When I hear someone talking like this all I can think is "Is this the kind of person I risked my life for?" I'm a landlord now and sometimes one of my properties gets 'griefed' in real life. I have the same feelings about those people as I do minecraft griefers. The difference being that there is a much more satisfying outcome to see a former tenant handcuffed or spend several days in court.
And saying that noone gets hurt. I have enough faces that I'm trying to forget without waking up to find my map griefed. Honestly the more time I spend back in this country (USA) the more I regret the sacrifices myself and others have made. You are just not worth fighting for.

I have a 24 hour server so 30 minute auto save is pretty standard. "many other settings to stop griefers" Name them.

My 15 year stopped playing the game and will not even load the game up any more that makes 7 months, I asked him to load the game up for the first time two days ago to make a video with few friends and I and turned it off again he has no interest in the game at all because of the griefers, and bullies. That's 20 bucks wasted.
They destroyed a world of his in a few minutes while he was away and auto save was on using lava. He was so upset he almost stopped playing Xbox all together, you know what he loved the game minecraft and had fun at it to, so he never got the benefits of any of the updates either. WOW
People please don't lie and say you don't know the hurt you can hear it, you can see the rage quits, and so on you laugh you heckle. Then people come back with it is only a game, get over it. Oh I was just kidding.
Then there is the most famous one may by your kid just should not be online playing if they can handle greifing, or bulling "because that is what minecraft and Xbox is all about" and that's how I have fun.
I am almost sure that most of the griefers would like to see some kid off them selves in the process if they could just to get there rocks off.
If it were legal I would have recorded some of the people and put some of the people voices up on Youtube and linked them in to this forum. It is not you can not underage bullies, griefers and what gets me most is some of these are adults in there 20's to 30's
Why does it empower you some how.
I will record the adults the Laws reads as long as one person knows the conversation is being recorded it is legal I will post those to YouTube

That was a bit of an exaggeration. But here's three: host privileges, option to turn TNT explodes and fire spreads off, and make a backup of your world on Cloud storage or a flash drive.

Fortunately, many of their victims are very worth fighting for and there are individuals such as yourself out there still fighting for them.
In my experience, it's really useless arguing with a bully/griefer. They just seem to get a kick out of it... They are not worth fighting for and not even worth arguing with.

I've never heard of people not playing Minecraft because their world was griefed. Everybody I griefed exited without saving. Maybe your son has a different feeling about not playing Minecraft. Maybe he got too bored of it because the game was too "blocky" and looks outdated. I'm only 12, but I have to say that it's pretty hard to understand 15 year olds.
Yes I'm twelve years old. Your intelligent brains outsmarted me. I'm sound even more stupid now that you know my age. You win...
I also want to add that all griefers all not bullies. All girefers want to be bullies. But, they don't awlays succeed. This can also be applied to the real world. Let's say I grief someone, and the person I grief exits without saving. That person is happy and I'm not a bully since no one got hurt in any way.
Someone please lock this thread! I don't want anymore hate! :'(
Well, a moderator replied to me. I automatically lose. *weeps*
My post wasn't entirely directed at you, but you brought up a point and I wanted to address it. My aim when replying wasn't to "win".
I also understand a lot of people who do greif don't really link actions to what could happen else where. I don't think bullies understand this to an extent either. I mean...if bullies / griefers were actually intended to cause physical harm, they'd do so themselves to the degree we're discussing.
But...that's not how it works...
As you grow older, you understand your actions and other's actions a lot clearer. Everyone is a bit self centered when they are young, and everyone goes through a time of how they feel they are invincible. Maybe it doesn't cross their mind, but not thinking through what your actions cause can turn out horribly wrong if you do something stupid. Also at this point...some don't even understand how to think things through just because of immaturity, and no I'm not saying this in a mean manor...maturity does come with age and life experience. It's not entirely a bad thing.
I will admit that I have griefed, but usually I only do it to my friends, where we know each other as just playing tricks on one another. I know it's not the same as if you were to do so to a stranger, but essentially you get similar responses. You do it for a response.
I think griefing also feeds into power play. Everyone wants to taste that they have at least some power over another. It's just human nature.
As much as bullies/griefers are despised, they ARE a part of every community. Rather if be a town, a school, an online community, or what ever else you can think of.
I think I've begun to ramble a bit...
TL:DR
Griefer / Bullies will always be around due to human nature. Regardless of what form they take.

You say that all griefers want to be bullies... but why want to be a bully? The road to a life free from hate is not to become a bully, but to become a champion for those who are weak and at risk of being bullied. You're definitely a very smart kid. You're very literate and you're feisty (i.e. you stand up for what you believe in). I certainly would have never guessed that you were 12 years old. So... use those smarts to do something good instead of wasting all that energy making failed attempts at harming people... and, I bet, the world could be your oyster before you're 20.
That was a bit of an exaggeration. But here's three: host privileges, option to turn TNT explodes and fire spreads off, and make a backup of your world on Cloud storage or a flash drive.
1- I don't use host priveleges because it stops leader boards for everyone on the map and I don't want to play with any special priveleges.
2- I have TNT always turned off.
3- I have had to turn fire spreads off recently because of griefers but to me it's not the same. I prefer to have it on, it just doesn't make sense in a hard survival world that fire doesn't spread.
Griefer = Garbage human being. These people are trash not only in Minecraft, but IRL too. There isn't a single one who is a good person in anyway, shape, or form. If I found one IRL, I would beat them to death. No bull.
I grief occasionally when i had the PC version, But only to people i didn't know. But i never blew up anyone's builds. My way of griefing was would be crouched and would occasionally toss a snowball at the victim. Then i'd let them wander around looking for a snow golem and while they did that i'd put blocks from other biomes around thier house...IE:Sandstone in Taiga, Netherrack in forest etc etc.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?" -The Mad Hatter
But in all seriousness, I grief occasionally when i had the PC version, But only to people i didn't know.
Many people who play Minecraft wouldn't even consider that griefing. That's more like a prank.
Griefing is now widely considered destroying peoples stuff. Dumping lava all over someones world so it burns everything, or using TNT to blow up large portions of a world. Stuff like that. Throwing snowballs at someone and then putting out of place blocks near there house really isn't anything.
I got griefed and retaliated with griefing on a server I made with some friends a while ago. One of them blew up my first house. In retaliation, I blew up his several weeks later. My other friend was there, so my first friend blew up his house. Then my second friend blew up my new house. None of us have griefed since then because it always just ends up ing off everybody. I do get an occasional griefer on my server now, but I just ban them.
IMO emotional harm is widely regarded as get over it.

Backing up your world is a very good idea.
