What?
The disc is the exact same game as the arcade/digital game. Same features, and both will get the same updates
According to their article on the main page it includes all of the same features as our current version TU11. I have considered buying it even though I already have the arcade version, like you said, just for the case. But another benefit of owning the game is if you did not have access to the internet sometime from now and bored, you could still play when someone with the arcade version may not be able to without a connection to Xbox Live. The Licenses on the Xbox are supposed to allow you to play offline when updated but if you don't update it after a while, it will not let you play until you connect. So what about several years from now when the Xbox 360 is no longer supported on live and you want to play Minecraft, you have the disc! I still break out my old Nintendo systems now and then, and will probably do the same with the 360 someday after it's time is gone.

Next month it will be the 'old' version.
I don't understand spending $20 for the 'box art' when you can print up tons of different MC jpegs yourself- enough to decorate a wall. You can even have them printed up poster size for you.
I don't get the 'Minecraft Mentality'.
On one hand people are willing to shell out $20 to buy an old, 'frozen' version on disk so in the future they can play the 'old' version.
On the other those same people are demanding they update it many times- and as fast as possible.
Very confusing….
I thought there would be an exclusive skin code that comes with the retail version. This tells me that 4J Studios are not in the money; YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

You don't need a connection to Xbox Live to play. I've played months without the Xbox being tied into the internet at all (i.e. I had to physically move it to another TV and connect it to the internet to get the updates; but the rest of the time I played on another TV without internet). I continue to play most of the time without being signed in with an Xbox Live gamertag. (My son owns both the game and the Xbox and only signs into the Xbox rarely. I use a gamertag that is Local to that Xbox only.) You cannot play in online games without a Gold Xbox Live gamertag and you cannot download DLC and updates without at least an Xbox Silver gamertag... that's all. I'm sure disc holders will have to connect to do those things as well. I believe this will also probably hold true as long as I have the game saved on my hard drive. If I do delete off the hard drive or the hard drive goes after a point in time when Live ceases to support the game, then I'd be out of luck. I personally have no plans to buy the disc.

It's not about spending money, when you love something, you have all things about that and want to get more, look me, i'm a fan of Linkin Park, and have all disks, T-shirts, Cup and a lot of more!

Yeah that's what i'm thinking, i play sometimes offline too, and i didn't see any error

Old Adage - "You can tell the men from the boys by the price of their toys." We all tend to collect "stuff" to varying degrees. People who don't have a lot of money to spend generally collect reams of less expensive "stuff." People who have more money often appear to collect less because they collect bigger ticket items and fewer of each of them. Sometimes collecting "stuff" hits a point where it become problematic for the collector (e.g. hoarding), sometimes not... but we ALL do it at least a little bit.
Contrary to what the front page says, 4J tweeted that the disc will come with TU10, and a free xbox live trial to get it updated to TU11. If you don't have the internet or xbox live, forget about getting anything beyond TU10 with that disc.
