Xbox Live Arcade is really just a distribution service provided by Microsoft as part of the Live Marketplace. As of today, Minecraft is still available through that service... So, it's still an Arcade game.
The sad thing about the disc is that its marketed to people without internet or xbox live...yet it shipped with the broken TU10 update. Their fix was to include an xbox live trial, which is gonna help the people without internet a whole bunch. Derp. Shame on them.

Yea Thats Pretty Dumb Their Just Like Hey You Dont Have Internet So Buy The Minecraft Disc It Comes With A Broken Update But Here Take This Free Xboxlive Trail To Fix It
On the main page it says the disc includes all features that we have today, and it was posted yesterday Thursday June 6 2013. http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/823-mcx360-retail-disc-now-available/ I don't mean to start an arguement, but it sounds to me like that would mean TU11 as current. But then it doesn't actually say which update it has. If you have a source I would like to see just for my own information. I intend to buy the game by disc even though I already own the digital arcade version. The reason is so I would have the option to come back and play good ol Minecraft on my outdated Xbox 360 years from now, when all the digital licenses are broke since it will eventually no longer be supported on Xbox Live. They say they will keep supporting the Xbox 360 for a time even after the new Xbox One, but eventually they will leave it on the wayside.
Everyone is saying its useless now , but I'm glad they came out with it.
All this horrid news about the xbox one is making me wonder when then xbox 360 market will be shut down all together.
Then if we somehow lose our harddrive or memory cards etc we can rely on the disc and not just be screwed over.

Do you know this for a fact?... need some input from someone with a Live connection who has bought the game. Does it update right away or not? If not, the TU11 fixes must have made it onto the disc. The real broken update anyways was TU9, not TU10.

4J said it themselves in a tweet. The main page is flat out lying. Check their twitter if you don't believe me.

Thanks. I'll happily take your word about the tweet, no worries. As I mentioned though, TU10 fixed the two major bugs in TU9 (Silver Account bug and the lighting bug), so it's not like the disc has those bugs on it. The bugs fixed in TU11 were pretty minor by comparison - mostly trying to make some improvements re lag issues and increasing the painting/item frame limit. Because the disc version is on disc, there may be different lag issues from the download version anyways.

Really? Here I thought they delayed it until June in order to get the rest of the bug fixes (TU11) in. What a shame if they didn't.
How Aboot Now Eh?

Save the game to a flash drive. Update that as needed. Done.
You don't need a 'disk'- it's only for people with no internet connection at all.

This should link those of you who aren't sure to the tweet. I think
Nah it doesn't, but you can read what they said in bold.
