Did you guys ever Notice that Minecraft PC Version is more updated and features than Minecraft Xbox Edition?
I do get the fact that all of the developers focus on PC Version. But should Minecraft make a new thing, Where people can make a choice to develop either on PC Version or Xbox Version?
The Xbox 360 Edition gets update every month. The PC version is further ahead because they do not have any rules to follow. The company that develops the Xbox 360 Edition, 4J Studios, has to follow all of Microsoft's rules and regulations when it comes to updating a game. The PC is also further ahead because it's about 3 years older than the Xbox 360 Edition.
Just so you know as well, the Xbox 360 Edition will never catch up to the PC version because it isn't meant to. They're two different version of Minecraft. The Xbox 360 Edition will soon be getting a lot of unique content.
Xbox and PC are developed by two different companies. While the PC only really gets an official update once every few months. Snapshots are a beta test of an update that is to come.
While looking at Xbox, 4J has to go through Microsoft's Cert Testing in order to be distributed to us to download. It also costs money each cert test that 4J has to do compared to the PC.
While the PC version has the freedom of the community, Microsoft holds a stricter policy and only developers approved by Microsoft can work on the console for updates, add ons, skin packs, ect...
Where people can make a choice to develop either on PC Version or Xbox Version?
The PC people would want their version updated more often.
The xbox people would want their version updated more often.
Two completely different companies, both working constantly, on two completely different versions… so you want "the people" to decide which company sits on their thumbs, and for how long?
Sorry, I have no interest in that war.
The PC is and has always been a more open source environment than the gaming consoles. As others have stated, Microsoft has complete control of what go onto their console and they have rules. Each update must be certified by them and that takes time. They are also likely limiting the number of updates 4J can apply to put through the certification process and/or how frequently they can attempt to put an update through the certification process. If they allowed Minecraft to take up all the schedule room in the certification process, they would be taking away slots from other Xbox games.
If what you want is ad hoc community programmed things for Minecraft and quick and dirty updates every single week, then your best bet is to play it on the PC. Personally, I like the slower pace of updates on the Xbox and not having to sift through a bunch of little separate added programs before I play the game. Isn't it great that we both have an option (i.e You CAN play on the PC and I can play on the Xbox).
cant call a bug fix an update, and as where up to TU12 and 6 where bug fixes id say where lucky to get one every 2 months
I count bug fixes as updates. Updates have been nearly every month including bug fixes and then title updates.
The only gap I remember was a slightly over a month wait between TU8 to TU9. Looking at the thread containing the changelogs, they all come out about a month apart.

You think there was a pause between TU8 and TU9, 1.2 adds a completely new placement system, several new mobs, a new biome, and a new redstone contraption (that being a big thing because of the programming for its interaction with redstone complication-thingies), and also a few things from future updates. For example, colored wood and item frames in TU9's case. TU12 is a long way away.
Although my MCForum is SoarvivalistGizor, I usually go by SlabGizor117 or Slab. I made this account back when I was a fan more of Paulsoaresjr, rather then Etho.

A pause doesn't bother me. Unlike some people, I can easily wait for something I want. I have plenty of games ti play in the mean time, including the PC Minecraft. It takes them time to make updates, especially after what happened with TU9 with all of it's game breaking bugs.
So I would assume they're more inclined to pause and take more time to make sure that doesn't happen again.
The truth is they could update this game every week just like PC...but they won't...because they hate you Lols, no its what those other guys said. It's hard working within microsoft's rules.

They could update this game every week and people would still complain about not getting updates fast enough. That is unfortunately what gaming has become for this newer generation. 25% actually playing the game, the other 75% complaining about the game.
I would love to put some of these people back in time to the days before internet enabled consoles when what you got when the game came out was all you ever got.

ive never classed a bug fix as a title update as its not really moving the game forward,
perhaps they do it so some ppl can keep track better
again its just my opinion....
btw the next update is next month, the last update was last month, oh wait, isnt that 2 months between updates, anyone with a brain could work that one out.....
I also don't really consider bug fix updates to be in the same class as updates that add features. Still though, I think that the pattern of updates in the past essentially tells us that 1) the scheduled "slot" that Microsoft has given 4J for updating Minecraft is roughly monthly, (so I doubt they can really put in for any updates closer than 1 month apart); and 2) that the original plan was to add features in 1 update and then bug fix the next update. It is also evident that, as the game is getting more complex and pushing the limits of the Xbox 360 harder, there have been a few more snags causing delays and the need for 1 emergency bug fix update... which, in the grand scheme of things, was probably inevitable. In my experience in business, very little ever goes exactly as planned.

I was very calm when I typed that... don't be condescending

Guys like us can remember 25 years ago when you got what you got. However, developers back then couldn't count on the ability to patch their games, so they tried harder to get it right the first time. I have lost count of the games released recently with the promise of some feature being delivered by update which should have been in the release.

I'm not quite that old yet but I grew up on an Atari, SNES, and an N64. Back when companies took more pride in their games and made less things to just grab a quick bit of cash. Devs and publishers aren't totally to blame for it though. All the little sheeple just go with it and as along as that remains the same, nothing is going to change.

Why is every bug fix titled "TU**" then? "TU" stands for title update, therefore bug fixes are updates.

Now that would be a harsh punishment indeed...

Haha, sheeple. So true.
So sad, but so true.
