This is a pretty big glitch that i have discovered. I don't know how no one else experienced this because this happened twice to me...
When I'm in the End with my friends we take down all the towers so the dragon will not regenerate health. The glitch is when we are fighting the dragon. We all sit at the bedrock fountain and spam our swords at it. After it flies away from the fountain it is still full health... We figured that we should use bows (it worked). This is a huge glitch if you ask me... (dont act like im a noob
I found that when I tried to hit the enderdragon with a sword, it was, more often than not, keeping out of reach of the sword...So, I was essentially just fanning my sword in the air. You don't damage what you're not actually making contact with.

Mine wasn't - I was just clearly not actually close enough to hit the dragon.
In your case, was the bar at the top moving at all? Perhaps what is need is actually an enchanted sword with some extra force? The first time, I just resorted to using a Power IV bow and I could see the bar move a little with each hit. The second time, I didn't have the Power enchant (just Infinity) and it was much harder to spot the health bar move after a single hit. The battle took a lot longer to finish overall.

So has this happened to anyone else?
This happened to me the one and only time I fought the dragon. I pumped myself full of potions, had every regen tower taken out, and the sword swing connects, I can tell by sound of sword, dragon, and hit markers made of sparks (critical hit), but the dragon was taking NO DAMAGE AT ALL.
I ended up skilling it with arrows. I was surprised no one else mentioned it until now.
I was actually really bummed about that because I had all potions ready and had best armor, best sword. Everything was stacked as high as I could get.
