You can use pink dye on a sheep of any color to make a pink sheep.
I have only seen 2 natually spawned pink sheep. Its less than a one percent chance of getting a pink sheep to spawn...but without dying one you'd have to kill and kill and kill...
When you dye a sheep a color they become that color until you recolor them again.
So yeah...Make pink dye and dye the sheep.
Edit: And yes...breeding two pink sheep together will produce another pink sheep.
I'm not sure how cross breeding different colors works. I'm pretty sure you just get random color of one of the parents if I'm not mistaken.

That is correct

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
As others have already said, the easiest way would be to craft pink dye (red flowers and bonemeal) and then throw that at any color of sheep to get that sheep to turn pink. If you dye two that way, you will be guaranteed of getting a pink lamb when you breed them. If you breed a pink sheep with, say a white sheep, you have a chance of getting either a pink lamb or a white one. Color blending through breeding is not yet in the Xbox version of the game. If you don't have any red flowers, you can throw bonemeal on grass to generate tall grass and flowers. To get bonemeal, of course, you will have to kill some skeletons.
If you do opt to go the first route you suggested (i.e. killing sheep until a pink one spawns), you will likely eventually get a pink sheep; but it may take some time. I have two worlds currently on the go where the pink sheep I have bred from 1 naturally occuring pink parent. In my experience, some seeds seem to spawn pink sheep more frequently than others, but this may just be random luck as well.
Offspring always carry the colour of the parent first fed wheat.
Based on my test for breeding, 100 offspring, each produced from "wild" parents, one white, one coloured). I know this contradicts the wiki but that's how it is for me anyway.
Not true - Last night, I bred a dark gray sheep with a white sheep, feeding the gray sheep first, and came up with a white lamb. You have a slightly better chance of getting the color of the first sheep fed... but it's not guaranteed by a long shot. On numerous occasions, I've gotten white lambs from breeding a colored sheep and white sheep... and I always habitually feed the colored sheep first.
Interesting, and I wouldn't argue that fact, I just couldn't reproduce the random element within the small section of data I used.
I started out trying to test if sheep spawned as a natural colour are treated differently to dyed sheep with respect to colour of bred offspring, and that's why I only did 100, because getting 100 naturally coloured sheep was a real pain. It's fair to say I won't be repeating that aspect of the test again. Baaaaaahhh Baaaaahhh
ETA:
Just tried using the black sheep that I had bred, paired with wild white sheep and the colour of the first 10 offspring was totally random, with no respect to order of feeding for breeding.
I'll also try to run some specific tests tonight when I get home. I honestly haven't done much mixed breeding of hand colored sheep so there might be a difference... I usually just throw dye at both parents (making them both the same color) and then breed.

Similarly, I tried using a hand-dyed blue sheep and a natural white sheep and also got completely random blue or white offspring regardless of which parent was fed first. That is, I got blue lambs about 50% of the time when the white sheep was fed first and I got white lambs about 50% of the time when the blue sheep was fed first. This seems to totally negate your orginal findings... perhaps 4J changed something after you ran those tests?
