so if i cover a desert biome with grass, no animal will spawn there still ? wtf that sucks
If you're going to all that trouble, why not instead start with a plains biome and change the parts you want to be desert to look like desert? It will rain sometimes, but animals will spawn there and the cacti will still grow if you plant them.
Although you can change every single block in a biome to something different, the biome will stay the same.
Snow will still fall and specific trees will also still grow.
If planted by the player, any sort of tree will grow in any sort of biome. All they need is dirt, sufficient space, and sufficient light. If you chop down every tree in a forest biome and plant only pine trees, it will look much like a taiga biome without the snow. I plant spruce trees in grassy parts of desert biomes all the time because I hate the color of desert grass and the sickly color of oak and birch trees in desert biomes. Spruce trees do not change the color of their needles nomatter what biome they are planted in, so I find that their dark color tones down and disguises the color of the grass somewhat.
As someone else stated above, biome shift may occur once more when they add jungles into the game. In addition, the switch to ANVIL format may enable an ability to edit biomes since it is this format that enabled that sort of edit to take place on the PC. However, 4J have stated that they are only implementing portions of the ANVIL format, so no one knows whether we will be getting this sort of thing or not.
I know you just want to play in a world with a collapsing gravel Superflat, so no.
If I had a mouse, I 'd make some kind of pixley medal...but I can't.
That's what I was afraid of, so many cool worlds are ruined by random snow biome patches
There is one way to stop it from snowing. Palcing blocks any level above the ground will stop the snow from ever reaching the ground.
So you could put a 10x10 area of blocks at Y: 127 and it won't snow under that. It also stops water from freezing. However, the grass and everything else will stay the same.

Problem with that is that you'd have floating blocks that would just look weird, which doesn't really fix the problem either.
We need to beable to choose which Biomes our world contains when generating a new world.

Stay fluffy~
Snow cannot settle on lava.
Nor will the grass be a funny colour or leaves.
Animals won't spawn either.
You deserve something for this...I'm just not sure what.

Nope. I actually did that for one of my adventure maps. That poor forest remains animalless.

I don't see how that helps, please refrain from trolling.
It works.
Try it.

lol, fill the sky with glass
It's harder than you think. Especially if you're looking for something really specific, like an all-desert map.
