Not looking for a seed, just a general question. In generating a seed, will all worlds using that seed be identical, regardless of the difficulty? My granddaughter generated a world, they could not locate the Stronghold, so they created the same seed on peaceful and the world was different. And yes, I checked that the seed was put in correctly. There weren't big differences between the worlds, but I wondered if changing the difficulty changed the world..
IF the world's were generated using exactly the same version of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition, they should be essentially identical. If there has been a title update (or updates) between the time when she generated her world and you generated yours, then the worlds may be very different indeed. Since updates have frequently made changes that resulted in changes to the terrain generation code (particularly updates that have added biomes into the game), different versions essentially use different terrain generation formulas that interpret the seed strings differently from each other. Since the last few title updates have only made small changes to the terrain generation, differences between worlds generated over these last few updates may not be that significant, but some have changed a little more significantly... it just seems to depend on the individual seed string.
In addition, there are subtle differences between worlds created in creative mode and created in the survival modes. These diffferences usually just seem to involve the placement of some chests. It should not make a difference the difficulty of the mode, however. So, as wolfe indicated, usually the stronghold can be located by creating a duplicate seed in creative mode and using Eyes of Ender to find it. However, if her world was created in an earlier version, the stronghold location may also have moved due to the aforementioned changes in the terrain generation formula(s).
That helps immensely. After having 3 people come and physically verify that the seed numbers matched and ending up with different worlds, I thought I was going bonkers. Thanks!
One thing that could happen that makes you think the world is different is that on the first world, they could have spawned in one place. Then, when they used the seed and remade the world again, they could have spawned else where making it look like the world is different.
If you really want people to test, give us the seed.
The terrain itself doesn't change. Things that will change though are trees, chests, caves, sugar cane, pumpkins, etc. The main terrain however remains the same.
