i wanted to make a auto cobblestone harvester, is it possible to get cobblestone to break automatically somehow ?

Fully-automatic: No, not that I know of.
You can set up a wacky TNT contraption, but that'd be a waste of time.
The only plausible way is with a Wither, which we do not have.

Get sticky tape over RT
And look at cobblestone generator.
Have it sitting at bedrock so you can put an unbreakable block behind it.

The only way would most likely be TNT but it would be faster to just mine it =/

I wouldn't call that "automatic," but that is a creative way to mine an upwards of 6,000 of it. ò.ô

yeah if you had a lot of tnt you could theoretically rig up a system where when the cobble stone reaches a certain point it goes between an active redstone signal and completes it, that signal would push some tnt into lit netherrack and BOOM!
of course the logistics of it all would make it so complicated and unwieldy that it would be bordering on stupid. your time would be better spent just mining it. of course if you need a ton of cobble might as well just dig around at y-12 or so, maybe get some diamonds out of it too

Yeah we have one in our server ( not fully automated)
makes a big block of cobble surrounded in water and the water surrounded in obsidian.. once it is full..
we drop a tnt and get the cobble..then the machine reloads the cobble by itself... .. pretty awesomely pointless!

I know. I have over a dozen double chests full of cobble in my mines. And I made 3 differently designed cobble generators on top of that. The stuff is coming out of my virtual ears.
