So, I started up my old world that I made when the game first came out, and my question is this...where is all the clay? Was it not added? I know it was, per patch notes, but, c'mon. Why doesn't my world have clay?
There was a bug at the start of the game before the piston update where clay didn't spawn.
It may have been extremely rare though.
Not too sure just add some in creative.
Nobody cares.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
So, we're down to grousing about bugs that were fixed nearly a year ago. As MG stated, what was generated back then was generated back then. The game will not generate terrain over terrain that has already been generated period. The reasons for this should be obvious. If you're posturing to get a reset in the overworld, well the easiest way to reset your overworld is to start a new world. Xbox worlds aren't super large anyway. Any world or terrain within a world generated after the clay fix will have clay.
Still not that great. You'll find it mostly where there is sand and water meeting. Clay became far more abundant with swamps but it's unlikely you'll get a specific biome like that in your unexplored areas.
I have not fully explored the map. If I go to unexplored areas, what are my chances of finding clay?
It's a crapshoot depending on what areas you have completely not explored (not above ground and not below ground either) and on what a map created using the same seed would put in those areas today. If you explore an unexplored area of an old map today, you get whatever a newly created map using that same seed string would put at those coordinates now. It may result in "colliding" terrain; such as high hills or a swamp meeting a desert at perfect right angles.
Clay itself is next-to-impossible to find in a Beta world such as yours, however you can still transmute slabs into Brick Slabs if that's any consolations.
(Look it up.)

Looking it up right now and holy smokes! This stuff is fascinating. But, embarrassing question here...
why does he keep saying "double slabs"? I know "slabs" are the "half" blocks you can craft, but what are "double" slabs? Does he mean just a block?
EDIT: Wait, hold on, everywhere I'm reading is only for the PC version and/or stating that the glitch has been patched.
double slabs is 2 slabs on top of each other forming what looks like a block... If was considered a block like it was a ways back, stacking slabs and breaking them would return a block and not 2 slabs. But since they fixed that, you actually get both slabs back.
And for the most part I have yet to find any transmutation machine that would work after the TU8 came out.... Tried a lot of different ones. Unsure of that slab one as I don't think you can make that in the xbox edition. Think it may use something that isn't in the game yet. If I remeber correctly... Went through several versions of those kind of redstone machines failing in the end beyond aforementioned update.><

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Man, I don't wanna go into creative mode in my main world; too much work and effort from a whole group of friends of mine (I'm talking this world was created by, about 15+ people. It is MASSIVE. And still growing). We all get onto this world for achievements and leaderboard stuff. Bogus that creative mode permanently disables leaderboards and achievements, but understandable.

Shoot me a message over the 360 and I'll show you the TU11 one I have.
The seamless stone slabs are obtainable and usable with it. o.o
