Like how many girls actually play minecraft? I am a girl and I play it though its better to not use a female skin or to use a no gender skin so you don't get weirdos following you around. Sometimes I see girl skins but those could just be guys.
I've got several females on my F.list who play M.C.. At least they sound like females. I've also got a ton of males who have female gamer pics so more people will play with them.
I know I have to fight my fiance for the xbox most of the time because she is playing minecraft, or ME3. I can also say that all but one of my friends in xbox live are girls and all of them play minecraft most of the time.
I have girls on my friends list but don't play with them much. Gender is not a factor for me in playing with people it's (what's in my signature) and the times of day people are on. Several of the girls i have played with don't have/use mics so others may not know they are girls.
are you asking just out of curiosity or are you looking for other female gamers to craft with. if you looking for other females you should post up something in the looking for players section under multiplayer. and ask them to inbox you. but look out for creepers lol... guys can be weird not sure what they expect to happen when they go crazy over chicks who play video games.
but to answer your question i know a few who play. though i havent done anything with them in a while my schedule changed a lot lately.
really i dont think gender should factor in, most of my friends in real life are women. i guess thats why i dont really care. lol
I know that girls would play minecraft...
What abou battlefield 3 or Arma 2
I know lots of girls/women who play all sorts of video games. I also know that a couple of them are way better at them than their male peers. I also thought gender stereotyping was ancient history.
I'm a fellow female minecrafter. I personally use the zombie mage skin...i'm really picky when it comes to skins, and I wasn't exactly happy at the look for the female skins that were provided.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Nah, I found that one cute. I believe I've used the Gears of War Anya skin too, but I usually go back to the Zombie Mage.
For the topic...the op mentioned avoiding the female skins do to "weirdos" following you around. That's another thing girl gamers face. Some will use that as an advantage...and men know this. Why do you think some men pretend to be females on online games? In the MMO world...it's highly more noticeable. That's why a popular phrase I've come to know is "There are no girls on the internet."
As for minecraft...the women population of minecraft have to play alongside the preteen/teen/young adult men counterparts. We know how hormones work...no one is blaming anyone. Girls...they're not an exception to this either...it's not entirely men's fault.
I feel if I continue I'm going to make my argument look more favorable to one side...or that I'm bashing one gender over the other...I'm not. Both men and women take advantages of the sterotype of "girl gamers".
I'm a girl who plays Minecraft, COD, Battlefield and what-have-you, but because of the reasons already stated in the thread, I don't use my mic to chat, and I don't have a "female-sounding" gamertag. I feel like many girls are like that; if they don't blatantly state it with their gamertag, then they tend to not want to deal with it by putting in their mic, but what do I know.

Lol, yes girls play minecraft and video games in general. It's sort of a ridiculous thought that they don't and minecraft is a pretty easy game for even people who aren't very experienced in minecraft to hop into. I am one, and being a mod over at PMC I see a ton of others. You just need to get more involved in the community and they start showing themselves.
I've never had anyone follow me around a server or anything for being a girl. Though there is the chance of something like that so alot of the females I know who do play video games try and keep their gender vague though overall if there's a skin you like use it.
And if anyone bothers you for any reason, gender related or not, if someone bothers you, you can easily just switch servers.

I imagine so many of you to be male.
