Hi I know that branch mining at level 5 is the best way to find diamonds if you disagree, what do you think the best way is? Is there a best biome there is to mine in? Is there a better level to find diamonds? This forum is just to share your thoughts about finding diamond.
I am not too sure, still young in terms of Diamond mining, but I can tell you that Diamonds are the sole reason I get frustrated and quit, they CAN be such a pain to find, but as others will say, there are considered rare for a reason.
Best method I have had in my little experience has been branch mining, not sure what level but it was below Y = 10 (on the map) and that net me 20 or so diamonds in a relatively small area on one seed. My current seed (Arthas) has proven to have 0 diamonds so far, I have done so much branch mining at levels 10, 9, 6 and nothing but coal, red stone and iron.
Some of it has to do with pure luck. The generation has some parameters/odds, but it is still random. I generally mine at Y12 merely because this puts most lava lakes at my feet rather than over my head and I have a tendency to burn whenever I break into lava overhead. Using this, I've had seeds where I've found 32 of diamonds in maybe 10 minutes and others where I've mined tunnels the entire length or width of the map and found nada/bupkis... and then moved over another 6 blocks and found tons.
I can tell you that i found like more than 20 piece of dimonds and a tons (like 6 stacks) of iron. I mined on a abandoned mine, i dont know the coordinates but is on the north east if you see the map, you can see a little sand squares (not a island) there you need to start mine depth until you find a the mine. ALso i found like 4 spiders spawns and well i dont discovery all the mine yet
See, my INGENIOUS way of getting diamonds by mining ON A SERVER is to get a big plot of land, and hire workers. "You keep half the diamond you find, in return I pay you and give you tools, armor, food and a place to stay."
In addition to all the alike suggestions, I also dig out the veins of dirt and gravel I find down there.
Once you get an Efficiency III or IV Diamond Pick, you can instantly break them, and doing this has revealed jewels multiple times for me.
It is all by chance in the generation. Like up said. For me I usually like keeping the lava at my feet, although on some worlds it is not always the case, but most the time. y12, which is my head height.
Looking for diamonds takes an incredible amount of patience sometimes. Determination helps a bit too, but that can only go so far. That is one reason I just go from project to project to keep myself doing something else every so often.:D

I usually just go to Y:12 and look for large areas of lava and start to dig around. Most times you will see diamonds in the open or somewhere close by lava pools.
Another option is to pick a seed that has diamonds in chest in structures on the map. The seed I'm on now has 6 diamonds in village chest and that gives me enough for an enchenting table, pick and a shovel so I haven't started diamond branch mining yet just building.
How do you guys figure out what level you are? X,Y, or Z. And I just cave/TNT mine. I know it's a little unpredictable, but I just expose alot of diamond veins while I'm at it. IN 2 minecraft days, I got meself 47 Diamonds.
