Today I'd like to ask about something I noticed quite some time ago.
On the pc version of the game if a mob is dropped directly on top of another mob they occupie the same space, that is they don't collide at all just pass right into each other. But on xbox this doesn't seem to be the same. When I drop mobs right on top of each other they kind of glitch out and collide a little.
This is messing up my mob system since I can get a to of mobs into a single space to kill, and because they start to back up the system.
Does anyone know of a way to make this work like on pc?
My experience with them phasing is that it is a graphical error only, and that they are still in that same block that they phased from.
This is true to an extent.
They can still be hit in the phasing...phase and can be forcively pushed out altogether.
I've seen this happen with a sheep pen before.
One day there's 16, the next time there's 14 with a red and purple sheep playing with the cows.

The last part is probably due to animals merely respawning when you reload the game on a block immediately adjacent to the actual block they were on when you saved the game (probably due to the fact that block coordinates actually represent the intersection point of 4 blocks. If you make your fences only single-wide, this allows for animals to occasionally just re-spawn on the "wrong side of the fence" as opposed to phasing through the fence. I don't have this issue in my farms wherever I have used double-wide fencing on all the pens.

This is indeed the case. I have two mob spawners I have discovered by each other one skelly and one zombie. If I spend to much time with the skelly spawner, the zombies stack up at the corner closest to me they start bumping and glitching out. If I am paying attention, I see the phasing out of the containment area I have built....But if i am not paying attention and they stack up in the containment area then I get snuck up on and have to beat back one or two who escape... I have also noticed that when I first arrive at my mob spawners that they are not in their containment areas so i have to clean sweep the room upon arrival .

If, however, you do hit them while they are phased through the "fence," they will usually snap back into the fenced area similar to how they, more often than not, just snap back on their own if left alone. It is really, really rare that a true phase through the fence results in an actual escapee. If your fence is only one block high, it is far more likely that the pushing and shoving inside the pen results in an animal or mob being launched by a push from another animal or mob right over the fence (which is different than phasing through it).

You have to either deal with it or hope it's changed some day....
Stay fluffy~
While this may be true, they still collide, just not as much.
If you jam enough stuff close together, they will begin to phase through walls.
