Has anyone ever come across a map with no passive mobs except for a few squids and some cows? I stsrted a new map after TU10 the number is -370578278 and I thought it was a great survival island map except I dont have any sheep for wool or chickens for feathers. Ive explored the whole map and I didnt find any at all. Any suggestions on why this happened and how I can fix it?
Thanks I've already tried that but it didn't work. Another weird thing about this map is that it has no villages even though I had checked the box to generate structures. I created a new map with the same seed without structures but I got the same results. Also there are other islands besides mine so it has land to spawn.

If you live in a giant ocean biome, villages have no-where to spawn.
It's the same concept as animals: They only generate in plains and deserts, though.
An extremely large, open biome made entirely of water, with underwater relief on the sea floor, such as small mountains and plains, usually including dirt, sand, and clay. There is no maximum limit to the size of oceans.[3] Oceans typically extend under 25,000 blocks in any direction, reaching out to 100,000 in rare circumstances. Small islands with infrequent vegetation can be found in oceans. Friendly mobs do not spawn on these islands, but hostiles do. Epic caves are very common below sea level, and entrances to underground ravines can be found at the bottom of the ocean, as well as abandoned mine shafts.
Also from the wiki:
Villages, also known as NPC villages, are groups of buildings inhabited by non-player characters (NPCs)—Villagermobs that spawn naturally in the world. They only occur in the plains or desert biomes. Village buildings in plains biomes will be made out of Oak Wood, Oak Wood Planks, Cobblestone, Stone Stairs and Glass Panes. Village buildings in desert biomes are made out of Sandstone, Smooth Sandstone, Sandstone Slabs, Sandstone Stairs and Glass Panes instead of wooden or cobblestone features. Also, the plains biome villages have Gravel roads while the desert biome villages have Sandstone roads.
Hmmmm. Do you have ANY grass blocks anywhere? If your not willing to go into creative then here's a suggestion. Dig as much dirt as you can and place it 3 blocks or closer to and grass blocks and over time the grass will spread. Once you've got around 20 blocks of grass you should have passive mobs start spawning. I had a seed I was building a survival island on and converted the one island the map had in sand first. This stopped all passive mobs from spawning. As soon as I put about 10 blocks next to this grass spawned quite quickly and I had a few pigs about 30 minutes after that. It does take time but should work.
My current island map is of a similair nature as yours without any villages so the only way around that is to use spawn eggs for a village or two I plan to construct.
Yeah but if it's technically a full blown ocean biome no amount of grass will help. He's got cows so it's not entirely ocean...
Good luck!

Were the cows you found regular cows or mooshrooms? If they are regular cows, then the other passive mobs should be able to spawn in that same area. If they are mooshrooms, then you may not have any biomes on the map where the normal passive mobs can spawn. However, you can shear mooshrooms and they turn into regular cows, which you can then breed as regular cows. Wool can also be made from spider string, so you will have a supply of it if you convert the spider spawners and cave spider spawners you find in your world into mob traps.

They were mooshrooms. And I only had two. Since then I haven't seen any new ones spawning but I can breed as necessary. I didnt know you can make wool from spider string which will be very helpful to make at least a couple of beds. My only gripe is no chickens means no feathers so no arrows otherwise it is an awesome map.
you could go for enchanting your bow with infinityI so you only ever need 1 arrow (which skeletons drop)
Ninja'd.
OP: Wolfe is absolutely correct... and, if you don't get an infinity bow, but find a skeleton spawner and make a trap out of it, you'll never lack for arrows despite not having feathers. In Minecraft, there is often more than one way to get most items.

Animals will not spawn in oceans or deserts; and squids will not spawn outside of oceans.
Stay fluffy~
OP: Try staying in one area for a while, they may appear after a while.
