For everyone Complaining about the 360 not getting MC realms, quit complaining, WE DO NOT NEED IT. MC Realms is a paid service to allow PC players to host their own servers without having to go out and get a server rig to run it on, or find a site with an available server to host their server. To put it simply, it allows you to create an online world to play with your friends in. Now why would you want to have to pay for this service when we can simply check the online game and the xbox hosts its own online world without having to upload it to another website before hand for free. If you really think about it, this is one thing the xbox had BEFORE the pc, or a way that the xbox is better, free world hosing any time with no hassle, just click and go.
I'm confused as to where all these people complaining are located.
I've looked in the Discussion, Recent & Upcoming Title Updates, and Suggestion forums. Out of those three, only 1 had a topic about servers on it's 1st page. So I must be missing something or people are keeping the complaining on the way down low.

People would pay for it because for the most part, it would mean larger worlds.
I have been browsing the forums and seen like 6 different people saying we need realms on the 360 actually don't remember what topics, but one was even in a pc topic. The world size is limited because the xbox could not handle the size of much larger worlds, being able to host a server on the 360 would not change this, the real truth is we got this from the beginning for free already so we do not need it because we have our own free version of it, you would basically be paying a monthly fee for exactly what we already have without it.
I've mentioned them before and they are needed. Some people like myself wouldn't mind paying for a server. I already bought an extra gold membership, copy of the game and xbox to run a "server". They are needed, people on my server probably wouldn't actively play or build as much on the server if that had to rely on me being "logged on".

You don't actually get a server, it is basically what we already have, it would still rely on your console being turned on and you logged into it, like I said in my second post, you would be paying for exactly what we already have, that is why we did not get realms, it would be redundant to have them on the 360, besides they only support 4 players per world, and not just 4 at a time, you can select only 3 friends to join your world, and only those 3 will be able to join it.

No it's not. It is a rent-a-server from Mojang specifically a "Mojang Hosted Server". There is a list of people allowed in the world and they are able to join at any point without the "host" being on. Only person that incurs the charge is the "host" not the guests.

I agree with OverlookeDEnT that from the perspective of being able to host games without actually being logged onto the Xbox would make a rented server worth it for some people. However, I think most people are thinking that incorporating Realms on the Xbox would automatically allow for larger worlds and more players allowed in a world at once. From this aspect, I agree with the OP... merely adding Realms to the Xbox would not likely bring about either larger worlds or more players. The thing is "Realms" as an entity is a solution for different hosting issues that occur on the PC. It's not designed to be a solution for the specific issues that occur on the Xbox. Yes, rental servers are needed on the Xbox and 4J have said long ago that they are looking into options for that. However, I fully expect that it won't be "Realms"; but rather something more specifically geared to resolving the Xbox's issues.

THANK YOU! I was just making a post to try and explain this but you showed up and did it way better than I ever could. I also would like to say I am not saying we should not be able to host 24/7 servers, or that realms is bad, I am just saying that realms was designed to address pc and pocket issues with multiplayer that were not present on the 360 due to its environment, so realms on the 360 would be like trying to put a nail in with a screwdriver, its just not the right tool for the job.
so whats the point if you wont get bigger maps or more ppl, what are you gaining ?
The ability for people to play your world 24/7 regardless of whether you're on or not.
It's also a step in the right direction for larger worlds. 4J said if they could remove some of what Minecraft has to run, a la the server client, from the Xbox 360 to an outside source, they could make worlds bigger because a whole lot of RAM would open up.
That would of course require them to either recode the game entirely or just put out a huge patch that does it. Either way, it would be a lot of time and effort to make it happen.

Well, Realms would give 24/7 access to the world for players who don't live in time zones that are compatible with the host's time zone, which the currently available services through Xbox Live don't offer to Minecraft players.
However, what I am saying is that Realms (specifically, Realms) isn't the answer to the other desires Xbox people have... which are bigger maps and more people. Realms has been designed to give PC people an alternative to setting up a formal server where they can have a smaller number of people play in their worlds with greater security. As a result, I don't think Realms (again, specifically Realms) is meant to be just ported into the Xbox environment; and I think programming MCXBLA to utilize "Realms" (specfically, Realms) would be a waste of RAM and time. It's just not a blanket-type answer for the issues people have on the Xbox (which are somewhat opposite to the server-related issues people were having on the PC). I do think 4J will ultimately design a rental server service specifically for MCXBLA that will allow for more people than 8 in those worlds at one time and may perhaps allow for larger worlds to exist on those servers.

Gaining a more reliable 24/7 online experience as opposed to running an Xbox that has to be manually shut down for a "cool down" period or the chances of it locking up ......like it does from time to time....or data loss (assuming they have a system in place to back up saves)

Realms is the first official world hosting, offered by Mojang, that the PC has ever had. Before Minecraft Realms you would have to open a server on your own PC, which is very difficult for some people, or pay to rent a server from a website/company.
Problem with 360 is that the only way to access one is to have the host online. Something like realms would allow a server to be accessible even when the host is offline. If it didn't have that, it would be pointless on 360.
