So I couldn't find any Netherwart in the Nether- normally, this would be a real bummer- but theres that new reset nether option, right?
....only, when I 'reset' the nether, it literally does that- the EXACT SAME nether is made, with everything in the same place, and still no netherwart....
Please tell me I'm just doing this wrong, because everytime I go to the nether, it resets it back to how it was before I changed anything....
I think that's the idea of the option. The nether generates depending upon the seed of your map, which does NOT change when you hit the reset nether button. I think this is more for when you have cleaned the nether out so much that it takes far too long to find new resources. I can see this being particularly useful in servers, where the nether is cleaned out within weeks, but not so sure why it would be as needed on Xbox.
Seriously? So I just don't getta have netherwart legitmately? weeeeeak.....If I knew that, I would've just kept my nether as it was....I had a cobblestone house around my portal and everything
The Nether Reset is there to allow new features to be brought into your Nether.
Say you created your Nether before there were any Nether Fortresses. The reset would allow your Nether to get a Nether Fortress. If you you've reset your Nether. you can now find Netherwart growing randomly on Soul Sand block.
Also every Nether after Title Update 7 or 8, can't remember exactly, will have a Nether Fortress. There is almost no way your Nether does not have Netherwart.
What is the seed? If you see Entropy cascade Failure I only found like 3 little bits on random soul sand. The only positive was that they were indeed reliable after Nether Reset was used so they can be found over and over. I'll look around the nether on yours if you'd like.

Probably because of the limited world size. Have fun emptying the PC nether *lol*
just saying in my world i have reset my nether about 20 times or so, my map is from the release of MC, although im now generating a fortress, ive still got no soul sand nor nether wart anywhere in my nether....
so in my world its NOT true...
Sounds familiar... Like one of mine I actually generated. It had soul sand before any of the updates but no fortress, not that it mattered much for that specific map. After it had a fortress, but the only soul sand I had was in the nether wart room. I have generated numerous maps that lacked the soul sand to produce the random nether wart. Although recently have not ran into one that didn't have a room for it.>< Well beyond only one map which I wouldn't remember the seed # to if I tried since I deleted it due to the fact I couldn't find either.
Oh well at least I had another map I was and still am working on anyhow... Luck of the draw I guess...
on another note I usually find too much gravel in the nether....

I have a recent map that appears to have very, very little soul sand, but I did eventually find a small pocket of it in a cave of netherrack. The reset nether option generates the nether that goes with the seed string now (proveable because the tutorial world seed reset places the fortress in the new location rather than the old one), so it should be inserting soul sand in the nethers for old seeds since if you used the same string of numbers/letters to generate a world today, that nether would have some soul sand in it. I wonder if, when they went to random netherwart generation, however, if they reduced the amount of soul sand that generates as well. Will check this out by comparing specifically soul sand generation between various 1.8 nethers and reset nethers I have.
i only have 1 old world so its hard to compare to others, so much of my world is netherack its hard to see if theres any soulsand, but from all the places ive searched i cannot find any, also my fortress is there but has no staircase/soulsand so no netherwart and no blaze spawners
May I have the seed number of your old world? If my understanding of how the reset nether should work, I should wind up generating the same nether as your reset one, even though I am creating the world today. At the very least we'll know for sure if I'm not right about that and I wind up generating a world with lots of soul sand or something like that.
My oldest worlds all generated soul sand and netherwart upon reset of the nether, but they may have had soul sand to begin with (I can't remember). The one nether I reset today did have some soul sand (it was a 1.8.2 world) and that generated netherwart on it after the reset as well.
because if you generate my world now from all these biome updates it would be a completely different world

not sure if clearing the cache and deleting updates before trying this world offline would give you the one i have now ?
OK, I had to dig quite a bit, but I encountered soul sand and netherwart at X-87, Y64, Z58 (nether coordinates). As a means of verifying the nether, I place your lava pit in the fortess at X122, Y62, Z59 and a balcony at the bottom of a stairway (not a nether garden) at X132, Y54, Z43. Let me know what you find at those coordinates.
ETA: Forgot to mention, blaze spawner at X93, Y65, Z63 (standing on it) and a second one at X135, Y65, Z72.
ETA 2: I've been digging since I posted and that may indeed be the only patch of netherwart in this whole nether... can't believe I got so lucky if it is the only one. Must quit now, though. Good luck, wolfe. I hope it is the same as your reset nether.
I believe i am having the same problem. i moved the portal to three seperate locations in my world as well tried resetting the nether. at it actually does is relocate the spawn point of the portal in the nether. i literally dug down near the lava and tried following lava sources yet i couldnt find anything. i created a creative mode and found a fortress there. i want to keep my old world cuz ive put in alot of work already and i would like to keep getting my achievements. if anyone can help out it would be great.

Post the seed string number and I may be able to do a search for netherwart for you later in the week. Basically, to find the netherward on wolfe's seed, I just went into the nether in creative mode, grabbed a nether map and then just started digging (not blasting).

I forgot to mention at one point i spawned in a location with a small amount of soul sand and netherwart in a small area of the map, but when i dug around it was indeed still the same map. is it possible for me to use the seed number to make another copy in creative mode? or would it only allow me to use it once per console?

Retired StaffHe may know too much, maybe even where I hide my diamonds.
Dude, hiding them behind the wheat is too easy.
Try putting cows on the chests. The violent moos will deter even hardcore thieves.
Stay fluffy~
Just keep looking, dont get discouraged. Some will turn up soon.
