So I have a rail system and it's been 3 times that an exact 4 block section was gone .. or so I thought. At first I thought it was griefing by a friend's son. And booted him.. then it happened again.. and I tried to rationalize it thinking a creeper must of blown it when someone was riding the rail.. Everyone said they never had that happen.. well I noticed there was 1 block still there with a track on it... it was gravel o.0 ??????????.... i broke the rail and then the gravel block under it fell.. . I went to retrieve the track from the ocean. and Noticed there was a 4 long 3 high stack of gravel.. Right underneath where the track kept going missing... Now It seems that somehow the stone is being turned into gravel somehow... NOBODY griefs in this world and it is so random that it doesn't seem to be something someone would do.. Also it is about 5 blocks from the edge of the map..
Anyone else experienced this?

This sounds suspiciously like a freakish chunk error. I did have one world once where I hit a spot where I bumped into what appeared to be an invisible wall. It was in a swamp biome and I was able to still dig the blocks even though I couldn't just walk over the area. However, they were sand when I dug them up and dirt when I replaced them. I had nothing in my inventory at the time, so I know I could not have replaced them with different blocks accidentally. I was merely replanting the same block I had just dug up. On that occasion, I was never able to walk over those few blocks and the world itself eventually cratered.
More recently, I had a similar situation in a swamp where I seemed to walk into an invisible wall. Again, I started to dig under the affected area. However, this time the blocks I dug up were dirt and they stayed as dirt when I replanted them. After a bit of digging, the wall itself seemed to disappear (i.e. I could walk through that area normally). I'm still playing in that particular world; but can only wait to see if it eventually craters as well.
yeah that's weird.. I believe you might be right and it might be a chunk error.. I'm gonna dig all the way down on that strip of 4 and see what I might find... odd...

Did You Notice The Chunk Error After TU10 Was Implemented? I Ask Because There Was A Random Chun Error In A World I Am Helping Build And The Whole 20 Blocks Were Invisib, All We Did Was Break It Down And Replace The Blocks, I Havent Noticed Any Odd Chunks Since Then But Atleast I Have A Story Now =D

Ya know I was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this. My experience was a bit different. I jumped into my daughters 1.6.6 world and a huge section of beach turned to gravel...at least, I think it did. Its just outside of her build area and I don't remember it being there. Its probably 15 x 15 or bigger in size, and goes down 6+ blocks. Its very weird, I've never seen land generation like this, so I'm sure its not natural.
Ahh yes, the Bermuda Triangle of title updates, TU Eightleven. It seems you have ventured down the rabbit hole and there's no way out.
I suggest traveling back in time through the fourth dimension to a point before the update. Take a look at your life through the fifth dimension to see how this predicament could be avoided. Jump into a three-dimensional frame from the path of your choice. Random stone block no longer turns into gravel. Win.

Take heed from the sage, who is in direct competition with me for being the most random poster here.
Also, I knew never to trust gravel.
