As of now I have one adventure puzzle map and one recently completed PvP colosseum. I've gotten players from here and other places and some friends, they all liked the maps but the lag was at times unbearable. It's to the point now where my PvP colosseum is unplayable with more than 3 people due to monsters, redstone, and traps not working and players losing connection. Leaving to to exit and join multiple times, and by multiple I mean 20-30 times.
Now I'm not sure if 4J is working on a fix for this or waiting for the new xbox before they release a new improved method.
I thought of a couple of ways to fix this; first was have 4J host it, second is have it downloadable like DLC.
If 4J were to host it, they could allow more players and 1 or 2 more admins with abilities to turn off people powers. I figure the best way would to do something similar to BF3 where you pay money and you get a server that you can completely customize to your liking. This means you rent from 4J for say 800MS for 5 days and you can select any map in your save data to load. The server loads the whole thing, which would probably take some time depending on file size but, this would allow for little lag I think since the whole map would be loaded in at once, and then everyone would join. This would also mean everyone connects to 4J and not to just the host of the game. Maybe even put in a browse function too so you could join maps that weren't locked.
The DLC could be something like you make a video and submit it to 4J and they pick 5 maps and release them as DLC playable maps, maybe release them every 6 months or so.
I'm sure that 4J is working up something, but after today playing on a friends map and him playing on mine and we both experienced major lag, I thought we could try to discuss this issue somewhat.
How do you think 4J can fix this? Would you want it on the new xbox or on this one? Do you have any other ideas for resolving lag?
