The doors have to be at least 5 blocks apart no? And don't the villagers need to 'See the Sky'? So does that not mean that underground or underwater villages wouldn't be good then?

I look forward to when they gain "some intelligence..." Lol I forgot to add a door to a village house and now the testificate is meandering around. So wishing they could have a brain to go inside at night as well.

There is actually no point in doing what the OP did. Villagers cannot breed yet so aside from populating the village he made with Spawn Eggs, it's pointless.

They do not spawn naturally, no. You can populate them with spawn eggs, if you're not averse to going into creative mode.
