Hi many of you have answered to my previous post about slime farms. I have made a giant area that is 3 high and is like 100 bricks one way and 200 the other. I put jack o' lanterns in the floor in scattered places along the whole thing. I also have torches on walls but there are still no slimes. I have no clue what to do please help me or if you are really good with slime farms send me a message stating your xbox gamer tags and I will let you come to my world. Thanks!
Is it below level 16 and are you in Peaceful mode? If you are not in Peaceful, you have to wait about two days or more for them to spawn.
This is not true, you don't need to wait 2 days for anything to spawn, and slimes will now spawn up to Y:40.
First, make sure you're actually in a slime chunk, then light up any caves around you. Stand at least 24 blocks away from the pad, and if spawn rates are still slow, try going to the surface and killing off some passive mobs. You will get them eventually.
Keep expanding your room. I know it can be a pain in the butt, but the rate at which chunks that can spawn slimes appear is about 1 in every 10 chunks, or something like that. As impressive as a 100 x 200 room is, there's always that possibility that you were unlucky enough to not dig into any slime chunks.
Try entering your map seed in this handy tool: http://extension.ws/...aft/slimes.html
Slimes will spawn in only 10% of the chunks (16x16x511 areas) at a height of Y=40 or less in any light level.
The problem is that they have a slightly lower spawn rate than common mobs (assuming they'd spawn in every chunk).
Ever after lighting an excessive amount of caves, the surface may still be spawning some monsters, which indirectly keeps Slime spawn down.
If you've yet to find them, then keep expanding out.
In addition you may want to X-ray the area and look for areas still unlit.
If you can't find any...you're unlucky enough to mine out a massive area in no Slime chunks.
Building a slime farm...
1. Build it below y-16 (only reason is diamonds..and less lava lakes seem to be between y-11 and y-14)
2. Light up surrounding caves (for the reason that dark caves will spawn hostile mobs. which will add to the hostile mob limit. which will prevent slimes from spawning. because their hostile mobs.)
3. Try to sleep at night, to prevent mobs from spawning at night.
4. Keep digging...
5. Don't give up. just keep making the room bigger. if it helps, try thinking about diamonds, or other resources you might find.
6. Take breaks.
7. Listen. if you hear 6 zombies behind a wall, you probably have a spawner there.
8. Get some buddies. pass out stone picks and shovels. watch the room multiply quickly.

I use one block of TNT, stand minecart rail and a minecart. I usually dig two blocks deep into a wall place down the rail, then the cart then the TNT over the cart.. Then hop it the cart. To get out just hold down the RT and the TNT will be knocked out then the cart. Do not worry you will not blow up the TNT.

You're able to make slime farms on the xbox version? damn!
I'm using the slime-finder app at chunkbase.com, and it's very reliable. Just enter your world's seed (the one displayed when selecting which world to load) and search for chunks spawning splimes - preferably at least two adjacent chunks.
A few tips:
First of all, make sure that there aren't any caves above or below your future slime farm. Even if you light up those caves, this just means that no zombies, skeletons, spiders, and creeper won't spawn there, but slimes can and will still spawn there instead of in your slime farm.
Secondly, if you have multiple viable spots where you can make a slime farm, try to do so in a desert biome. This increases the chances of slimes spawning a bit because neutral mobs (i.e. animals) won't spawn in deserts. A slime farm under the ocean is also fine because the only neutral mobs to spawn there are squids, and they usually don't spawn in large numbers. On the same note, you might want to place a lot of light sources on the topside right above your slime farm (and a bit around it) so that hostile mobs don't spawn there at night.
Finally, it might be a good idea to make your slime farm somewhere between layers 10 - 15. If you're going to dig a lot, you might as well do it deep enough in the ground to hopefully find a few diamonds.
All you need is a 16x16 block area for your farm. Just use the slime finder app to find the chunk. Then just dig a trench around the chunk leading to wherever you want. It is also better to make the farm vertical. I use multiple floors spaced four blocks apart. They all walk of the edge of thier platforms directly into the water. I use three lava blades. One at three blocks tall and two at two blocks tall. Then just lead all the baby slime to where you want. They will be one punch kill or you can drop them four blocks to kill them. I currently got more slimeballs then what I know what to do with.
I've heard the better to place your lights off of the ground, but I think the wiki says mobs can spawn in torches.
EDIT: For anyone wondering the slime finder DOES work on 360.
I tested it the other day. When I used the program it and it led me directly to my current slime farm.
The site said there were two slime chunks connected at the corner right where my farm was.
My farm was much bigger then the two 16x16 areas. I blocked off the parameters of the two slime chunks and left for a while. When I returned the two areas were filled with slimes but none were outside the parameters. Any time I returned it was the same. So I had to re trench the two new chunk and redirect my water flow and move my killing area. Now my farm is as effecient as ever.
Look on my YouTube, Ever since I saw my friends Creative Slime Spawner, I've been replicating it on every world because it doubles as a Mine. I always do them at bedrock in a slime spawn zone. I mine 3 blocks high, and fill the floor in with Jack-O-Lanterns. I've been told that they like Lava and Water, so I add those sources as well. I doubt the lava and water helps, but it looks nice. Here's mine:

Lighting up the caves isn't really necessary and you'd have to do way too much work as they can spawn pretty far away from you. Passive mobs don't affect hostile mob spawns on the xbox. Passive(animal) and hostile mobs have their own separate limits.
As long as you find a slime chunk you'll be good to go. Don't dig out a massive area until you've found a slime otherwise you'll probably be wasting your time. You can use your world seed and a "program" to find slime chunks although it could be considered "cheating". Here is a slime chunk finder, just be aware that because of the 1000 world size your world only goes to -500 to 500 (on x and z).

I find the slime finder does work MOST of the time; but I have encountered some chunks indicated by the slime finder where slimes do not seem to spawn, even in superflat. What i usually do now is create a duplicate superflat world of my seed in peaceful and fence off the slime chunks found with the slime finder that I'm thinking about using. Then I switch the superflat world to a harder difficulty to see if any slime spawn inside the fence enclosure. If they do, then I know it is a valid slime chunk. If they don't, then I move onto a different chunk where they are spawning in superflat. On my most recent world, one of the chunks I was thinking about using never did spawn a slime in superflat despite being "camped" at the proper distance from it for a couple of Minecraft days.
With the increase in the spawn level to level 40, it is actually slower and more difficult to spawn slimes, since there are likely more open caves and areas within the slime chunk where slimes may spawn randomly. They will spawn in these areas whether or not you have them lit up. So, if you want to concentrate slime spawning to your slime room/floors, your best bet is to either fill in or flood as many of these areas below level 40 that you can find or floor them with 1/2 slabs so slimes will not spawn there.
Like others have said, use a Slime Finder. If caves are properly lit, a single chunk should keep up with your needs. A friend and I dug out a large area that ended up not having chunks, then we got one and still haven't made a significant dent in the Slimeballs, even using water to turn it off. We ended up transforming the intended slime farm into a normal mob farm that works quite well, especially with caves lit up.

That will show you where to dig out.
Keep yourself up to date with the Minecraft Forum rules!

How do you X-ray an area?
