I created a large automatic wheat farm on survival mode. And I'm frustrated at the moment. Because I followed pepper dimensions. And the water Flows beautifully and the delivery system brings the products to the drop spot. But! ! I'm supposed to be getting 300 wheat. (perhaps not counting the first rows making the total around 250) but even after that I'm only receiving about 80.... Please help me and my buddies take our world to the next level. If someone can help me with real results I'll even throw in some help on your world.. (I'm great with complex Redstone mechanisms)
This is due to the 200 dropped item entity CAP... only 200 items can be on the ground at once.... Go on creative throw out a bunch of any item.. and watch them disappear after you've counted to 200. This includes.. dropped bones from skeletons or zombies that might of been burned.. anything on the ground. Now you know!

Well with tilled soil not reverting back to dirt(unless jumped on).. what you could do is have a buddy intercept the first batch... and collect it.... then as the water is now flowing on the second level you can pick up the rest as it's approaching you... there's workarounds, but yeah it's whack... Good luck!
Is there a reason for all the wheat? It grows back pretty fast, and can build up in a hurry. I used to do large wheat farms, but you'd probably be fine with it only delivering 100 wheat or so. Maybe build more than one automatic farm so that you only do one at a time, then once you've gathered, run the next one. Just don't build a giant, you're working hard for nothing.
My farm is one patch of tilled soil on a piston connected to a BUD which also sends signals to 2 dispenser I just walk up with one seed in hand and hold left trigger. It plants, BUD triggers dispenser fires bonemeal, bonemeal it (because I'm holding left trigger still) Wheat grows BUD triggers tilled soil get pulled down then back up knocking the wheat and seeds out, meanwhile a second dispenser fires seeds into my hand restarting the process lol

Yeah I love that method! We've got one by our skeleton spawner... to kill time while it fills up.

A few months ago when pistons came out I built a massive 500+ automatically harvesting wheat farm. And yeah, I found out there is a cap. So I just planted like 1/5 the wheat on it.

Thank you... What a tragic reality.
I've wondered this for quite some time myself....
