So I built a gigantic 80x60 (Or more, can't remember) temple in the style of a Zelda like dungeon, however, I want to know my limitations for puzzles. Or rather, what I can and can't do with host options...
NOTE: I want "Able to mine blocks" off 100% of the time.
- Can players still take redstone dust from a chest and place it?
- Can players destroy redstone dust and place it somewhere else?
- If mining blocks is disabled, does this mean the player cannot break ANYTHING? If that is not true, what can a player break?
- Is there way to keep creepers from destroying blocks? If nope, then I have to put this on peaceful, which kills alot of the challenge.
Creepers will destroy unless in water or it's blast-resistant, that I assure you.
As for the dust, I don't believe so since it's some-what of a block.
The only "breakable" thing I'm unsure of would be paintings, but I'd assume they're fine since they're entities like Item Frames.

That's what I've done.
If it's something difficult to mine, people tend to not bother, assuming they have no tools.
