So my adventure map is currently in the works, and one of the puzzles/quests is to kill a few Pigmen, that pop out of the walls once stepping on a pressure plate hooked up to 3 dispensers.
The Dispensers are completely hidden by the 1 layer stone bricks surrounding them, but when the Pigmen spawn they get stuck in the wall covering the dispenser slowly suffocating and dying.
I'm wondering if there’s a way for the dispenser to push out the mob eggs further before the mob spawns so they don’t get stuck in the wall, or a set up that allows them to be hidden but still be functional without the mobs suffocating.
I noticed this as well... I had a "fridge" that dispensed Items and they went thru blocks... but I noticed mobs don't do that.. they suffocate in the block.. I don't know maybe find a creative way to hid them that doesn't give away their location?? Maybe in between transparent blocks? Not sure if that helps.. behind sugar canes? Haven't tried it since I was simply playing with my son when i noticed this.. but surely you can think of a workaround to hide them.

TIP: Dispensers can shoot upwards in the 1.5 update. How about you cover the ground with dispensers, and put slabs above them so they aren't visible and noticeable?

I guess I could try to do that, im currently trying to see if I can get the eggs to shoot through a half slab, I just wish that mobs would be pushed out solid blocks, but I suppose that would ruin a few mob traps that rely on the mobs suffocating

Can't wait for when they bring that to Xbox, a mob popping up right infront of you, but knowing 4J with their lengthy delays it'll be months, maybe until the end of summer, thats providing they even include it in the next update.
Mobs don't suffocate in transparent blocks. Try using stone brick stairs (with the back flush with the wall) in front of the dispensers instead of stone bricks.

I just had to get off xbox but i'll try that once I get back on my world, it honestly sounds like it would work so i'll let you know how it goes when I get back on. Thanks

This is xbox not PC. You're in the wrong forums I believe.

Get a sticky piston. Make it pull a block from the ceiling. Put a dispenser there and it'll shoot the dispenser. Make sure you time it right or else it won't work.
A bit off topic...can dispensers dispense downwards?
If so, that could help you. if not..that would be nice
Just got this from the Minecraft wiki
January 18, 2013Dinnerbone has stated that dispensers will have more features in future, so players should stick to using droppers to dispense items. 1.513w04a Dispensers can now face all 6 directions. Dispensers were given the ability to use many new items. These include TNT, bone meal, flint and steel and equip armor.
Although those are currently only in the pc, i'm hoping they will make it to the xbox, so in my furture builds I won't have this problem.

It works about half of the time because the mobs sometimes jump when still in the Stair block, which causes them to "Jump into the roof" causing them again to suffocate... I will continue testing this until I figure out how to do this correctly.

I might try something like this, but I'll try something a little simplier first, I dont want too over complicate things. #RedstoneProblems

It's really not complicating. Wherever the switch is you wire to the piston first then put a repeater on the dispenser 2 or 3 ticks. Hope that helped.
Sticky piston sounds the best. Have a two block deep hole in the wall, with a redstone torch at the back of it. Have the sticky piston push a loaded dispenser up in front of the torch from the floor, so that the redstone torch activates the dispenser. The dispenser will then drop back down into the floor.
