Just got the new update and foolishly loaded my current survival map without backing it up to the cloud first. Map does not load, just hangs... Constant rotating blurred view of tutorial map. Won't back out or load.
Strange enough other maps (without fortress, and creative) load up.
Bah. I'm finished with this last set back. Just cannot start over yet again.
Back up your maps. (I should know better)

Seatbelts are not as confining as Wheelchairs. Buckle up.
Always good advice to backup. I backup my maps regularly just as I do the same thing with any of my files on PC. I started working with computers in their early days when the magnetic cards and tapes they were stored on were very prone to getting errors just with a small amount of static electricity hitting the system during a save and corruption of files was far more common than it is today.
it could be that your download of the update is not quite right due to a fluctuation in your internet connection during the download. You could try redownloading it to see if that frees up your file. Another possibility is that an error occurred when you last saved that particular file (so the update itself may not be to blame at all). If you do have an earlier backup of the file, you could try loading that to see if it behaves the same way.
NB: I'm not saying that the update can't be the problem, since there could also be an issue with something specific in the file (like numbers of chests or item frames or signs) that is preventing the save from loading as well; but these are other things I can think of that could also be at fault.
I was half way through the update and read this. Quickly canceled it. Thanks man.
I think that was, more likely, a mistake. Interrupting a download midstream is seldom a good thing to do. You should have just let the download proceed. The update has been out several hours now, and this is the only report of this nature. I take that as a sign that this update is pretty clean overall. I haven't done extensive tests; but so far my worlds, both older and newer are loading and saving just fine.
I would like to caution people to be careful how they go about backing up their worlds to either the cloud or to a USB. You MUST be signed in with the exact profile that created those worlds when you copy or move them around using the Xbox dashboard... or else you risk creating an ownership corruption in the file that may render it unloadable.
Weeks!? Meh... Some people literally spend MONTHS just to do an adventure map or something like that.
Sorry if that sounded bad.
i've spent nearly 6 months working on and off on the map in my sig, building a medieval style city in survival... i need to get back to it, but i've hit a "builders block" (kinda like a writers block) with it, and am having trouble creating original house designs (that way there can be no accusations of being a "Madness64 clone")
