i made a world about 3 weeks ago and today i am using eye of ender to find a stronghold, i follow them until they start going into the ground but it leads me to nothing and now stronghold ive tried many times someone please help?
You're saying then that the world was initially created before TU9 was released. Was it only partially explored before TU9 was released? If so, then there is a chance that the location of the stronghold changed between TU8 and TU9 and that when you explored the area post TU9 where the stronghold should have been located in TU8 on that seed, that the terrain generated in TU9 without the stronghold being in that location.
So, as an example, let's say
Seed 123, in TU8 has a stronghold at X1, Y30, Z1. If seed 123 is created in TU9 the stronghold is located instead at X230, Y30, Z-110 (because the terrain generation formula did change slightly between TU8 and TU9). While TU8 was in effect, the player did not explore the are around X1, Z1 but had explored the area around X230, Z-110, so that when he did explore X1, Z1 after TU9 was in effect, the terrain generated in accordance with the TU9 terrain formula (which did not put a stronghold at that location). Since X230, Z-110 was already explored in TU8, it couldn't regenerate that area to put the strongholder there either.
In short, it is possible that your TU8 world does not have a stronghold in it.
i had a similar issue. followed the eye and dug to bedrock looking for the portal. i wound up having to clear out a 20 x 20 area from the surface to bedrock to even find the stronghold. point is the ender eyes dont always drop on the exact x/z location of the portal. my portal was actually about 40 blocks from the x/z location the eye indicated.
