Don't know if this will be an expansive project or not, but I REALLY want to move a mooshroom to my home due to it basically being an unlimited food supply. However, there's the problem of moving the mooshroom to my house...

The water isn't too big of a deal [since the mushroom island didn't even spawn in the middle of the ocean; I don't have a large ocean]. However, I have to move the mooshroom across some water, across some territory, and then finally into my house.

The question is... how? I believe I heard you could put animals into minecarts, and that would solve my biggest issue, but I don't know how to put the animal into the minecart, follow the minecart fast enough for the mooshroom not to despawn, and get to my house/farm in time.

Anyone else do this yet? Mooshrooms seem so amazing now that I found out that they provide mooshroom stew...

Minecarts are the best way.

I just grab some wheat, and make those red infected cows follow me across the water... because to me, spending over an hour building something i'll only use once seems pointless... in the same amount of time i can make that trip 2-3 times over.... then again, i've led over 16 animals from the ocean before on an old map of mine because EVERY single animal on my world decided to go swimming, so it's no big deal to me...

Whenever I do it, since I never use minecarts, I get a boat, an extra bed, and some wheat, and I make the mooshrooms follow me in the boat until I get to land and then keep going to my house. If the sun sets in that period of time, then I use the bed to sleep right away so nothing spawns and tries to kill me.

Lemme see... bunch of resources for nearly one use for minecart way or make them follow me. Thanks for the awesome ideas! [well, I COULD save on resources if I didn't want to go super fast, but I'd rather use the wheat... less work and thinking! ]

Now, who made the fatal mistake of shearing the mooshrooms? xD

My advice is to grab a buddy online and protect you while you bring 2 of them to your house with wheat. If that doesn't work just go in the morning and you probably won't die.

I just relocated two to my island halfway across an ocean biome. Your best bet is to whip out some wheat and just move as fast as they can. I did it while sitting in a boat with wheat in hand.

Pretty much whipped out the wheat, and the mushroom island wasn't that very far away, so I made it back within the day xD Was first freakin' out that my map glitched and there were no mooshrooms... Then daylight and had to reload my save from a few minutes before since the mooshrooms followed me off the cliff the mushroom island has and missed the water

Also, it's such a terrible pain making them walk up narrow stairs with open walls... Somehow got the first one up, blocked up with dirt due to laziness, and it took at least 4x the time to get the second one up and in. Eventually it skipped the stairs and climbed up the vines on the columns

Just try to breed your two Mooshrooms till ya get 4 or 6. Then you can start a breed,sheer,slaughter farm for mushrooms and steaks. They shouldn't despawn on you, hopefully. If you just want mushrooms, I'd bone meal the mushroom to get a giant. You can usually get around 15 mushrooms doing this. Endless supply.
