Dumb question. Can I load up PC Minecraft 1.1 and enter a seed into it to match the same seed on my updated Xbox 360 map. Theoretically, I can use this as a viewer/creative while playing survival on my xbox. Is this possible???
It depends solely on if the terrain generation algorithm is the same in version 1.1 of Minecraft PC as it is in our current version on Xbox, and that's not something I'd know. The only way I suppose to find out is to actually try it out and see if they're the same, or at least similar. A good way to do that is to load a seed on your Xbox in creative mode, go to a landmark (such as an NPC village), and write down the coordinates. Then, load up the same seed on the PC and go to those coordinates and see if that same landmark is there, and if the surrounding terrain is similar (i.e. a swamp biome to the north or a desert to the east).
And if you do this, please post your results, as it's something I would like to know.
I don't think so. There are many things about the limited world size that 4j has accounted for with the terrain generation, such as more common villagers and mushroom biomes. Because of this, I don't think the same worlds, or even very similar worlds, will be able to generate. The only way you'll be able to find out is by testing it for yourself.
