Edit2: If anyone is still looking at this, this has been solved. My primary problem was that there were many other surrounding dark areas where other monsters could spawn. After even [i]starting[/i] to take care of them, I noticed more slimes popping up. Not only did I get my needed slime balls, but I also found more amazing passages. Keep the sound up to hear monsters and make a ton of torches!

I was JUST typing up this huge post about not finding slimes at all in both my big slime farms, but then when I was writing down the second to last coordinate, I finally found a tiny slime [in Hard]
I spent a ton of time waiting for these slimes, particularly in 10 min intervals. I usually just wait ~24-26 blocks above in the ladders in the pics and just wait and do other stuff while keeping Minecraft on.
Summarize what I do:
1) Set to Easy, Normal, or Hard
2) Go up ladder, stand in room [first ladder: room is two blocks in, second ladder: five blocks square with ladder in middle) (ladder heights in spoilers before ladder coordinates)
3) Wait for 10+ min on the clock [max was about 18-21 minutes]
4) Go back down for disappointment.
Do you guys have any idea why this is happening? The slime farm guide said to wait minimum 10 min, but barely anything happening... Recommended wait time?
Also, if this makes a difference, autosave on 15min, may save in shorter time often

First of all, yes I did follow the wonderful guide and used the awesome slime finder which worked for TU8 [supposedly]. Using seed 4357029222121754934
Basically, I made two huge areas, brightly lit them up, and started at y=6 [since slimes are supposed to spawn on at least 0-16 layers]. I have these two pics:
[I had the coordinates taken in the pic, but apparently the screenshot cut off stuff from at least the sides and top =.= Will put in additional info in spoilers]
[i][old image spoilers went here][/i]
The first area was made in the middle of two slime chunks, and I was too lazy to dig out the third chunk that was right next to it in an L-shape. Then, after waiting for 20 min at least [2 10 min lapses], nothing showed up [Actually, the first time a spider hit me so I went light crazy and put those torches down]. This was on easy or maybe once on Normal, I believe.
Now then, I thought the Slime Finder wasn't working, so I made the second area with the center DIRECTLY underneath where I fought two slimes in a narrow, short corridor [not saying only like 2 blocks down, but to y=6]. Made a little bigger than 32x32 area and that is the second aera. Waited twenty minutes on first Easy and right now hard, but to no results.
Does anyone see anything wrong? I reread the guide, even saw where it says the 360 version only has layers 0-16, and still nothing =/ That second area is for sure in a slime chunk, especially since I practically dug out 4 from where I know for sure I fought a slime, and where the slime came from. [There was another corridor above the other one where I fought a small slime, in a stronghold so exact same length and narrow width]
Please help, need those sticky pistons =/ At least one more sticky ball to go for simple mob grinder!
[btw, celing is not flat, has holes from mining materials. Looked for info about flat walls and ceiling, but couldn't find anything about that. Same problem in first room. This the issue?]
Holy.. O.O That's 10,000 blocks per height... Took me long enough to create the
And does the height matter much above x3? Carving out another block higher... *shudders* I have pretty much two 32x32 areas, so yea xD
100x100 wouldn't help much if they're not slime chunks =/
JUST got enough slime in my second area in the far other corner [second corner coordinate]. Does Hard increase the spawn rate that much because this time I stopped waiting and went all the way upstairs and then came straight back down in a little bit...

This may or may not be a reason but from my personal slime farm i have carved out halls. They are about the same width as yours and higth but they are much much longer..I never find slimes when i first arrive but after playing in a nearby mob pit they start to show up..never in the same areas but the hall is so long there is always four or five large ones around..So my suggestion is go bigger cant hurt.
P.S. Am i the only one who calls slimes, jellos while killing them ?
Those halls would have to have the luck of going into additional hallways. Is standing above the area just bad? Dunno if the 360 has the vertical mob spawning distance different?
Does waiting never work? xD
Btw, is the slime finder obselete? Will check slime finder right now again about the second area's coordinates, but still haven't gotten a single slime in the first area.
Make it bigger. Like 100x100x4 at floor level 10. You'll be surprised when you find that there are overwhelming vast amounts of slimes.
^^^This. I just started at level 12 and made a huge room like explained above. I am spending more time clearing out slimes than I am doing anything else. I don't mind though, at the moment killing slimes is my easiest and quickest way of gaining XP.
Hmm... Two people confirming massive rooms... ; . ; Should I make my original second area bigger, make another huge room on the top of the second ladder, or connect the two areas even though the first one is a failure?
@x370znismo: How high was your room, level-wise?

Do you have all nearby caves and tunnels where hostile mobs can spawn? If you haven't, the that's the reason why you aren't getting any spawns. And if you think you did, then maybe you didn't...Maybe you missed one or two.

Oh... do you mean I have all the nearby caves and tunnels sealed or lighted up? Neither actually =/ Don't know if you mean layer wise, because layer 6 has no tunnels [but I'm hearing monsters which is ing me off through walls while running around the two areas, may have to explore those]. Does it matter that there are a BUNCH of caverns up above, even about 8 layers above? Dunno how wide of an area I have to light up.

Yes, and I'm not sure about layer-wise, but I would honestly light up tunnels/caves within a chunk or two of the slime chunk, just to be safe. And sealing them won't do any good, unless you seal them up so far that monsters can't spawn at all.

This is the most likely culprit. Also, the bigger the room the better yes. I have NEVER used the slime finder. I simply start a large material mine at or below y12, I'll mine all the cobble and ores, then as I explore and light up the surrounding cave networks, the slimes begin to spawn in greater numbers in my farm. Difficulty plays no part in how many slimes you get so don't worry about that. Now, the rooms don't have to be giant, ie 100x100, but one that size does guarantee finding slimes. Your rooms should be big enough. Grab a stack or two of torches, go spelunking around your base lighting up any caves you can find, then enjoy your new slime farm and all those wonderful sticky pistons!

It's a large area, I believe its around a 96 block perimeter. So yeah, you got a little bit of work to do. You might even need to light up the surface areas.
My hall is 3 high and about 30 wide...and streaches a quater of the map in one direction on level 10 is where it is located , Hope this helps I didnt do this with the intent of a slime farm, I just needed a lot of cobblestone and it has now been reporpoused as a jello farm
96 block perimeter... Oooooh... I got a lot of work to do for lighting up all the caverns and such I have a TON of caves nearby actually, and maybe more than a few artifical large holes made by digging a vein and then holing up the entrance only. Time to put my sound up, play on Easy, and go hunting for darkness and spawning areas!
Edit: All of you, thanks so much! I've actually gotten more slime balls than I need AND found amazing passages I never knew about before. I can finally build those mob traps, bridges, and other less cliche projects now xD
