I agree that all items should be renewable for people like myself who wants to play on the same world for years. I like to see long term progress but when items can go extinct it makes me not feel up to a multiple year build if I must "make a new world". I do not use creative mode, it makes me feel cheap.
I'm assuming you mean the Nether, as the End has no lava, nor is it resettable.
