yu could be right i only mine gravel when it's in th way and only use flint to make flint ansteel torch
If I remember correctly I think that's why I hate getting fortune on a shovel.. because then instead of gravel i have a ton of flint.. which i guess doesn't matter either way i dump both.

Now, lets look at some of the things that will not be farmable and question weather or not starting a new world for them would really be worth it:
1) Dirt and all dirt related blocks
2) Sand and all sand related blocks
3) Gravel and flint
4) Bricks
5) Netherrack/Netherbrick
6) Soul Sand
7) Mossy Cobblestone
8) Stronghold specific stone bricks
9) Endstone
10) Lapiz
Personally, I don't think anyone really needs more dirt, gravel, soul sand, netherrack, and endstone then generates in the normal world. If you do, too bad. They exist in abundance imo.
netherrack, netherbrick, soul sand, gravel and flint are now farmable by way of nether resets.
when you go to load a map, click the More Options button, and there will be a check box saying "Reset Nether"... so now Lava, netherrack, nether brick, soul sand, and (if we get them) Nether quartz will be farmable.

thank you. I will be using that. I like building with nether materials in the above world but hate changing the terrain so extensively. I have spent a few hours building a cobblestone nether fortress but i could let that go for a few 1000 netherrack and as much soul sand as i can find. I had heard about reseting but didn't follow through and thought it may have just been a rumor for the next update.
Does the reset return to the exact preentered state from when the map was created. In other words will the blaze spawners and stuff be in the same place?
It does go by seed, so it will generate with the exact same features if the map was created in TU9, older maps will get them updated to their current versions... which is why i'm kinda dreading resetting the nether in the world in my bio... i already spent 16 hours searching, memorizing, and carving out in survival a path between 2 portals in the over-world to create a link up to a floating wizards tower, and i've even added a hidden piston door... guess i'll have to remove the door, and go glowstone mining before i do reset it... i just hope the portals won't be suspended in the air... it's nice how they are now, in an enclosed cave system away from the ghasts, but the caves do lead to the lava sea(s)...
While I wish that we could have infinite amounts of items, like they can on the pc, I know that it isn't going to happen.
But once they implement trading (or if, but im betting when) we will ahave infinite amounts of armor and tools. all the important things are traded by villagers.
and if you do need large amounts of dirt or something, I'm sure you can give up 4 chunks or so, and dig it all the way to bedrock.
and if not...find that mountain you hate the look of, and cut it down:P
Diamond star thrills astronomers
A diamond that is almost forever
Twinkling in the sky is a diamond star of 10 billion trillion trillion carats, astronomers have discovered.

Now Earth has creative mode too!
Naw... it's more like the diamonds that show up at the edge of the world... talk about "Unobtanium." (Ref. Avatar)
Somehow, I don't think Nasa would give you XP for blowing up their diamond star...
I was thinking that they would be thinking more in terms of 10 to 20
Illegal transport of explosives (i.e. smuggled aboard a Nasa spacecraft) alone should get you that much.

How do you reset the nether?
