For anyone who does not know what Hardcore mode is, It is a game mode like peaceful, easy, etc. In this mode you only get one life and if you die, the game is over and there is no getting back to that map ever.
A lot of people think that it is the stupidest thing ever that you can never die, which is understandable, but I know a lot of people would enjoy it. This could open up a lot of PvP game ideas or contests between eachother and actually be alot of fun. Correct me if Im wrong, but Im pretty sure 4j is considering adding this in the next update. If they did, would you play it?
Hardcore mode locks the game in hard mode, and if you die, the world gets deleted... i am unsure how it would work with us, since each of our worlds technically acts like a server, so maybe for players that are not the host, it would "ban" them from entering that level if they die, while for the host it would delete it?
but then again, how would that work if the host falls alseep while swimming across the ocean biome late one night while a couple of his friends are playing on hos world, his character drowns, and they get kicked out, losing all their work they did because of a human error? (i've actually done that before, was working on a map, went swimming to another island to get some birch trees, and on my way back i feel asleep on my sofa because it was 2 am at my house, and i had been up for 20 hours already)
this would take some serious thought for 4j to execute on the 360 version...
I think they should add it, so some people can use it, but personally I think I rarely would. I've died on accident too many times in normal survival to take a chance playing hardcore mode, lol.
I'd play it alone... Maybe a Skyblock set up would make the most sense......
But yeah, I think this would be a Solo-Only Mode and I think would be cool to try

if the host dies, it becomes an "unhosted" server with no admin, so the host could leave while others still play on the world.
It wouldn't work well that way on the Xbox since it is the host's Xbox acting as the server so the host has to load the game and enter it as Player 1 before others can join the game. What ubergine suggests is probably the most viable solution, although it is not ideal since it puts an extra onus on the host that the other players wouldn't have and precludes another player from going on to win/end the game in hardcore once the host dies.
I agree that Leaderboards need a major fix overall first.
I have been waiting for hardcore mode, it gives the game a true sense of "one life" survival. Just deleting the world manually on hard mode does not give the same feeling of excitement as knowing the hardcore mode will automatically delete the world. It is not the same, give the serious gamers what we lust for! : D

just a thought. that way if you did some awsome build, for some reason, you could still work on it and show it off
Stay fluffy~
Maybe it changes to normal world style when your done and you get on the hardcore leader board for that world.

We need the leaderboards fixed first before more is added to them....

or, the host becomes a ghost. eyes with no hands.

i'd play on hardcore 15-25% of the time, if it were available.
That isn't Xbox or the game. That is your horrible download or upload connection (depending on if you're hosting or on somebody else's world).
