A friend and I spent a lot of time building and playing the game before the current update. It was a blast, but by the time we got into enchanting / alchemy (many, many hours in), I finally went into the nether realm and come to find out there was no fortress. I would have assumed all worlds would have them since they are required for later gameplay.
Will the game ever be updated to add required items to existing maps? (I assumed TU9 would have done this, but that wasn't the case) I logged in with creative mode to search everywhere for a fortress. I don't typically use any cheat or creative mode since it's more fun to play without, but if not all words have the items for the professions, that is restricting gameplay ... especially in the case above since we had spent so much time playing only then to find out items were missing.
It seems the only way to verify is to log into creative mode and search the world first -- but by doing so, it ruins any kind of exploration using non-cheat rules.
When laoding your world, go into the "More Options" section of the load screen. Tick the box that says Reset Nether. When you load your world, it will generate a new Nether from Title Update 9.
