I agree. While 4J is doing the best they can, i still feel because of the overwhelming fan base they should focus more on the xbox and crank out updates a bit faster.
I agree. While 4J is doing the best they can, i still feel because of the overwhelming fan base they should focus more on the xbox and crank out updates a bit faster.
How can 4J focus more on the Xbox when that is all they already work on?
Microsoft has limits on how rapidly updates can be released for a game.
They're cranking out an update about every month.
Isn't that quick enough? Compared to virtually every other game in the industry, that's fast.
Oh, I forgot. Some people in the "overwhelming fan base" would say even weekly updates wouldn't be fast enough.
Ok, enough fun.
This whole thread stems from the fact that (some) xbox people are jealous of the PC people because they think they should get "snapshots" and "beta upgrades" cranked out as quick as the PC does them. Some people think that because Mojang/4J is making all this money they can throw more people at the game and get their updates faster. Remember they're not griping about the PC version upgrades- they're griping about the number of xbox upgrades compared to the PC. They're also griping about the number of bugs in the xbox…. but if you look at the version history there's tons of bug fixes in the PC version with every upgrade (usually more bug fixes than additions).
The problem is, once again, trying to compare the PC and xbox versions.
You can't do that.
They work under completely different rules! 4J just can't pop out a "snapshot" for us whenever we'd like.
If there were no PC version, people would be tickled pink with the xbox version. And to say that 4J isn't doing enough, just remember that within minutes of the TU9 release and discovery that people were having trouble loading old worlds, 4J was on here advising of a temp workaround, etc., and they're working as fast as they can to release a fix (and fix the lighting while they're at it).
The idea that they don't care about us consumers is ridiculous.
For the $20 I spent on this game originally, I feel like I've gotten my fair value out of the purchase a hundred times over now. And I felt that way before the first title update tbh.
If PC Minecraft is so much better and ahead of the curve, play PC Minecraft. That seems logical to me. XBOX 360 Minecraft was never intended to fully resemble the PC version. I'm interested in seeing how 4J chooses to diverge from the PC version in the future.

QFT.
I look at my library of games. Everything from triple-A titles at 59.99 a pop to the myrid of arcade titles, and I prize Minecraft above them all. Best console game yet. Endless replay value.

Wow, lots of arguing here. Funny that you guys are arguing this much over a game. It was 20$. If you don't like it, don't play it. Last I checked, spending 20$ didn't leave me homeless.
I agree that the last update was lacking in content, but it was a free update. Why you looking a gift horse in the mouth? If you say updates are killing your game, then don't update. It's not like you are required to. Stop making fuss and play a different game. There are more important things going on, than if 4J makes money. I hope they do, they made deal with mojang, wrote game for xbox, and distributed. Good for them, they should be paid for working and making this product a available and I am sure you would want same.
As a matter of fact, you are required to update. Again this thread wasn't started to 'complain' or 'point the finger'. If the bathrooms at your workplace were free, but didn't work, you'd probably say something in my defense. The idea was that if enough people actually compiled they're thoughts on the same page as to what they feel happened to a really good game, over the past few updates. It's still a good game. My favorite, and I would like to see it stay alive than be butchered without anyone actually making a point that it's semi-frustrating to try and play, and enjoy new features when old features are failing. If you'd like to cry, there are plenty of other places and things to cry about. This is a positive movement, and if you can't handle what anyone has said, then leave. We will continue to voice our opinion about something we love in life. I'd apologize but I don't see where I've harmed anyone, or where it says I'm holding anyone hostage until it's fixed. I'm not and I haven't, I'm just concerned with what will happen with future updates.
On a second note, even though I doubt they've actually seen this yet at 4J and Mojang, They have taken quite a considerable amount of tweets and responded, and are in the works of fixing, I may be wrong exactly but, over 15 bugs. I counted 4 major ones that affected my gameplay, so assuming that they've definitely heard a lot of paying customers out. I'd re-invest in an actual DLC if I could just have an achievement for the ender dragon's defeat. Only time will tell what's actually done.
Actually, 4J updates Minecraft for free. It is part of the agreement between Mojang and Microsoft.
I think what he meant to say is that free updates are expensive for the developer, and they still have to pay a lot of fees & dues before it can be put live. I'm not expert there though.

Your taking a personal defensive stand, and that's once again not why were here. The PC version also suffers from bug after bug, whether it be minor or major. I can easily delete my snapshot and go back to a previous update where what I was working on fuctions and has no problems. We can't do that with the xbox. I'm not saying hiring new developers will instantly solve this problem, but to bring some help in looking at the future of the game, they'd be smarter to do it now, before the coding get's even more complicated and takes 2 month's to learn rather than 1. No one here is demanding anything. This is a 'Discussion' not an 'Argument', Yes I'll defend myself if you try to belittle my thoughts, and take on offensive stand. I will continue to until the day I don't exist anymore. I've taken everything you and everyone has said into consideration in my own thoughts, while it seems the most of this thread are comments like 'This is ridiculous' or 'but everything is free'. Please if that's the content of your post, just keep it to yourself. If you have something you think may be good information to help the rest of us understand where your point of view is, that is great and I'd love to hear it.

I feel like if Microsoft let us have update beta testing we would move through the updates much faster.
This is the reason PC moves so fast.
But the biggest kick in the bum is giving PC and PE realms (servers) and not thinking that we might really want them, which I personally do.

That is because those two games were designed for it. Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was not built with outside server access in mind. It would take a hell of a lot of work to be able to allow us to play on separate, off site servers like most other games do.
The Minecraft Realms servers that are being hosted for the PC are currently limited to 4 players anyways. So we technically have a higher player count than they do right now.

We hope you will see the scale of how much were paying and how much were getting as a community, and how the 1% and 99% continues to grow farther apart in every aspect of the world. This is beyond a game, this is a company neglecting their customers and profiting.
I get what you're saying. Really. In some ways, I don't disagree with you.
You're talking about 4J (and MC xbox) there, but the exact same thing you said above could be said about every game, product, service, or company out there. Of course we'd all like better products, more service, cheaper prices, fewer defects, etc., etc.. And there's nothing wrong with being a consumer advocate (though personally, I think it's a lot more effective to vote with my dollars).
But I'm just wondering... out of all the other companies out there that "need our help", why did you decide to start this twitter crusade against 4J?
just be glad they update there game for free. any other money hungry co. will charge for it. just remember they can pull the plug any time they want to.
I don't understand.
If the previous update had "no problems", there'd be no reason for any bug fixes in the next update, right?

Because if 200 people reply to this, it get 10,000 views, that could be enough for Mojang and 4J to see this, and take reference directly from their consumers and how theyy feel about the product, which I feel is the best approach is your aiming to get bigger and better over time. I wouldn't consider it a crusade. I started this on the weekend after reading from quite a few different people how this game is very therapeutic for them. I enjoy the amount of creativity I can bring into a new canvas. It can be a great developmental tool for kids. I'd like to see more of this game, and watch it grow.
This is all I'm trying to accomplish.

4J is well aware of how people feel about their product. Their Twitter is spammed daily by thousands of people if not more. The constantly browse these forums all the time. I doubt they need a "movement" to tell them what they already know.

I just have to say, this community could do with a change, in this thread I see someone simply trying to voice his opinion, and everyone else coming back and attacking him for it, isn't this the whole point of a FORUM? It seems when people with extended vocabularies start speaking, we are whining, I do not agree with everything he says, but he dose make some valid points, I would like to see less buggy updates, and this issue could be solved by adding a few people to 4J's payroll, or I would not mind waiting 6+ months for a single TU that catches us up to where we are supposed to be (1.2.3) but the decision is 4J's and Microsoft's, as a consumer, I have voiced my opinion, now it is up to them to decide to listen, I can scream in there face all day but, in the end, THEY will still make the final call, not me.
on a side note, we as a community need to stop assuming that voicing an opinion is arguing/whining, remember when you assume you make a DONKEY outta U and ME.
