Well excuse me for having an opinion. If you read carefully and had a realistic point of view, countries starve over less amounts of money. Xbox has been neglected on bug issues since the day it came out, and if that's because 4j isn't receiving the funding they need(which I highly doubt as they are a previously successful company) then something should be done. I understand your concept with free updates, and how we've already paid. This would make sense if the 'free updates' didn't ruin the game play one after another without concern of fixing bugs that have been around since day one. Let me use the double iron doors for example. This has been an issue since day one and has never even been addressed by 4j. On top of that, in the TU9 update it states 'Improved Lighting'. That's a deceitful lie as far as I'm concerned and shouldn't been confirmed before stated. You can be satisfied with a faulty product, but I guarantee you if you bought an electrical device that requires updates, and an update from the manufacturer rendered it useless, you'd have a bone to pick. If you disagree with this, well then that's fine. We will continue to fight for a functional product that we already paid for.
Thanks for your response!

If I remember correctly, Mojang did not fix the door problem for quite a while since the bug first appeared. And, I do not believe that Mojang mentioned/paid attention to the bug until it was fixed. But, yes, since Mojang has fixed this already, they should do something about the bug on XBOX, just simply by telling them. It is their game after all.

It's only DAY 4 since the update was released... and over a weekend at that. The bugs in any previous update were not nearly as devastating as this most recent one (Silver account but) and did not warrant deviating from a bug fix schedule that was already a concession made by Microsoft due to the "nature" of the game. I do believe this one does warrant an emergency bug fix; but your ranting on it being a month when it hasn't just destroys all the credibility of your argument. At least have the courtesy to stop these blatant exaggerations and get your timeline straight.
I'd like to go do some research on this topic. You will find we have waited a minimum of a month for every update. Bug fixes and new features alike. I'm really glad that people are seeing the concept, that this isn't PC. People can develeop a Mod in a matter of days to fix this without having to download anything or wait for someone else to make that move. We the players of xbox, are forced to wait, as we would violate to many regulations to even get into the coding of xbox. It is not the same console and needs to be approached from a different angle. You act like a 13 year old just started screaming over the lighting issue. Wrong. I am a 21 year educated citizen, and I feel that in any aspect of the world, with as much money as they HAVE profited. Keep in mind DLCs, Merchandise, Youtube Partner Profits, etc. haven't even been given a figure in this matter. We are looking directly at the sales of the game and who's playing, and how even on the main page feed of twitter, Jebs had to be pulled away from PC updates to work on Pocket Edition. Don't believe me? and I quote directly from Jens Tqitter "Jens Bergensten @jeb_ 2 Apr
.@jbernhardsson came to ask "so when are you going to work on Pocket Edition?" But but, Minecraft 1.6? Where's my clone when I need him? =)"
Never do you see any mention in any twitter feed besides 4J on the development on xbox. I understand tht 4J is responsible for porting, but with that statement I can see exactly why noone has considered xbox a problem. PC edition is their main priority, and that needs to change. If they weren't ready to develop it at the same pace and get it up to speed, then they shouldn't have started the process, or worse off dumped it off on another company and ignored it.
I also understand that minecraft is a complicated game. So is BF3, but it can handle 1 and 2 gb updates, 16 and 24 players, Maps that I feel are way bigger than to be expected, and the most amazing graphics for xbox yet as far as I'm concerned, and this is because when they need help, they hire them. For a game that is based off of a 3D pixel map of 862x862x128, I find it hard to believe these errors cannot be corrected and made more functional. Without bringing some new minds, with new ideas, we're going to have the same buggy update one after another.
I'll also have you know these aren't 'blatant exaggerations' these are realistic figures, that we are undershooting if anything. Do your research and make sure you keep everything in min, before you yourself is making false accusations.

I am basing that estimate on the HISTORY that 4J have established. If you think history and facts destroy credibility of an estimate then you don't know how to do estimations, trending, analysis, and capacity modeling. One uses history and trends to predict future events to a limited degree.
Given every one of these issues can be found on the Tutorial world in under 1 minute. Any and all proper testing should have prevented the Non-Live & Silver user issue. Any and all testing should have caught the lighting bugs. This was a clear management decision to ship with either 0 testing and/or major bugs.
Please tell me where my timeline is wrong. March 11 to March 23 was bug fixing. That is 12 days. There is another 12 days between March 23rd and April 4th when this patch came out that at any point 4J could have stopped the release. They instead made a conscious, knowing, purposeful, and willing decision and choice to ship with these major bugs and/or no testing.
Update > Bugfix = Time
May 9th 2012 > June 15th 2012 = 1 month 5 days
July 13th 2012 > August 7th 2012 = 3 weeks 5 days
October 16th 2012 > November 15, 2012 = 1 month
December 19, 2012 > January 30, 2013 = 1 month, 2 weeks, 5 days
With that I again say there is ZERO reason for the game breaking bugs to have reached the end users.
You implied that the game was being left "unenjoyable" for a month at a time; yet, the FACT is that most players were still able to enjoy the game after each of those historical updates that were a month or so apart... which WAS most likely the schedule the Microsoft agreed to for update frequency of this game. There were no absolutely game breaking bugs in those updates. The most serious one was the "inventory bug" which had a viable workaround by the players just remembering to put their items in a chest before they exited the game. Even the current lighting bug is not a game breaker. it IS a serious nuisance, yes... but I have been happily still enjoying playing the game this weekend even with that nuisance... so the lighting bug in and of itself does not make the game unable to be enjoyed by anyone. (It is obvious that YOU and several others are not enjoying the game right now; but there are also several others who have stated quite clearly that they are still able to enjoy the game despite the bug.)
The ONLY truly game breaking bug is the Silver Account one, which precludes those accounts from having their entire Xbox hooked up to LIVE in order to access their gamesaves. How quickly 4J can respond to this crises still remains to be seen... If it takes them a month, then I'll willing agree with your statement; but until then it IS conjecture... NOT history and fact.
My statement regarding the issues of credibility were made from a philosophical standpoint... Going over the top (as you are IMO) generally weakens an argument; and a more measured position is generally more effective... just saying.

You and a lot of people keep forgetting the target market for the disc based version. Those whose accounts/gamertags have no xbox live association (NOT Silver, NOT Gold). There is no workaround there.
You also keep failing to accept these MAJOR bugs can be found in under 1 minute on the Tutorial world yet made it through 24 days at any point 4J could have stopped this train wreck. There is no excuse except treating this as a ship it broken fix it later item.

I never said it was history or fact that the fix for this was a month from now. I said my ESTIMATEWAS BASED ON HISTORY AND FACTS.

There IS no history regarding how 4J responds to an actual game-breaking bug worthy of deviating from a preset schedule!!! You're estimating apples based on oranges. I am not forgetting anything. It is very conceivable that the Silver Account bug may not have revealed itself until Microsoft actually released the game through the actual public LIVE system. Any test system that emulates LIVE could have loopholes and bugs in it itself that prevented this bug from showing it's face until after it actually went to the real LIVE network.... and as I said, it is the only actual game-breaking bug present. Although it is perhaps more unlikely, but the same could conceivably also be true for the lighting bug. Software sometimes behaves very differently when it is working through other different software... that's just the nature of computing.

This is still ignoring existing bugs that have yet to be addressed. They did have a chance to test this, as it did hit live for certain people before it came out, as PlayXBLA had live streams a day or 2 before I believe. This could have been avoided regardless, and since it wasn't precautionary measures need to be taken. I personally was excited to start a fresh survival world and make it all the way to the end dragon. 2 minutes in random mobs are dying, and I'm at bedrock in a 30 x30 square with torches on every block and no light to show. I refuse to play at 100% gamma because recording gameplay looks terrible compared to the way the game was designed to look. I can't understand how everyone is just overlooking these issues as if you don't even care that what you paid for functions correctly. I was not spoiled by anyone and have earned everything I have in life with my own 2 bare hands, and yes it's frustrating to know that something you've paid for with that hard work, is not what you paid for at this point.

I,d rather 4J take their time with each update and have it clean and bug free, instead of the bug ridden updates weve been getting and to have it fumigated weeks later and still leaving bugs behind.
It's a damn game people. Yet some of you are acting like it's some life or death situation. Like you've been locked in a basement by Microsoft/4J/Mojang and been given very little food and water over the past year. Their business model and how they run their games isn't going to change. No matter what you think, they don't care about you. They're a business, they're goal is to make money, which they're doing very well.
I don't see the point in continually complaining about these thing when you know damn well their going to be fixed as soon as possible. Especially since both Microsoft and 4J have acknowledge everyone saying they know their is a massive problem. Tying to make a little revolution to change things will do nothing. It's never done anything. It hasn't changed Sim City. It didn't change the Mass Effect 3 endings. Valve still hasn't made Half Life 3. Etc, etc.
One day you and everyone you know will be gone from this world. I highly doubt anyone is going to look back in 100 years and go "Remember how those people tried to change how Minecraft was developed?"
Never played the PC version so coming from a xbox minecrafter i'm quite pleased with what we have and the possibilities of what we can get. I have no expectations from 4J because the do a fine job with the support they give. You can't please every gamer and their priorities are not always going to be the same. We have gotten more support for this $20 game then majority of full retail titles (outside the few exceptions).
I'm a little confused here... I'm a gold member on XBL... I get all the updates for free just like everyone else... not all games are perfect...common knowledge..I don't have nearly as many issues as people are saying.. so far I haven't found any bugs in my version of the game...I did delete my old map and start a new seed though.. not sure if thats why mine is playing fine. On the note of the whole money thing... get over it.. a companies goal is to be successful. They've made a ton of money.. they are successful. They don't need to give us anything else if they don't want. They could take their money and quit and say screw you all. So be grateful and be patient for what you do have and stop crying like a bunch of damn babies.
Have you ever heard of EA, op? have you ever heard of FIFA 12 and 13? Do some research on EA, and then learn to appreciate what we have. also, if you're going to scrutinize a company for doing well and suggest they do things differently because you believe they make too much money, look at mcdonalds or walmart or something, where they make enough to pay every one of their employees full salaries but rarely go above minimum.
I,d rather 4J take their time with each update and have it clean and bug free, instead of the bug ridden updates weve been getting and to have it fumigated weeks later and still leaving bugs behind.
Thank you for a sensible post.
Beyond that and this is directed at the 3 comments after it. Show me where I said "They've made too much money." and also where it says that my only concern in life and the world around me is minecraft. It's not. My concern is as simple as this for those of you who want to over complicate things. We paid for a game, and when it came out, everything was fine. After a few updates bugs arose. Rather than being sensible and fixing those problems before adding more content which is obviously going to layer problems over problems, we are left to 'tolerate' the issues that we have. It hasn't been rendered 'unplayable' but they've never given us an option to go back to a previous update, which would make sense. I'm not saying that everything in the world has to stop today so that they can fix this. Minecraft has been developed from day 1 of the first actual release on a user influenced basis. If your happy with your game slowly becoming more and more 'unplayable' then by all means start a thread supporting them. This thread was started to gather a group of concerned customers, about where a product is heading. Obviously you all 3 ignored the titled before reading in, which tells me no matter how good your vocabulary, education, and point of views are, you are lacking the common sense to read what started the whole page. I'd also imagine you haven't read through every bug list on the forums in it's entirety, which I have. Why you think McDonalds has anything to do with this I'm lost. From a personal perspective I know about Walmart, and McDonalds and how unfair they are, I also don't shop there because of their views upon their businesses. I like what Mojang has started and the idea behind it, and they deserve to be millionaires for their hard work. My point is 15,000,000+ plus people are relying on a crew of less than 50 total people, to steadily bring them new gaming concepts. I didn't know McDonalds or Wal-mart was run by less than 50 people, my mistake. I swore I saw 50 employees the last time I was at Wal-mart the last time I was there years ago. On top of that most (and keep in mind I'm saying most!)of those people won't ever find another job due to their lack of education, or work ethic, or their lifestyle situation. Same goes for McDonalds. This isn't everyone as some people have no choice in the matter. Mojang and 4j are not run by people with no education or intelligence. They are intelligent motivated people. Bottom line is I'd like to see you meet the demand of over 15,000,000+ people with less than 50 people, on time without one single disgruntled customer. There are problems, and they need to be addressed. People like you, call it crying or whining. I call standing up and making my point, and not letting everything around me decide what happens in my life. I have a voice and I will use to voice my opinion. If McDonalds' and Wal-mart's way of business bothers you, then start a movement somewhere else as they are of no concern to this issue. I'd imagine your the same person that bought Black Ops 2 and loved all the 'new additions'. They ruined the game as far as my say goes, and as much I love the game minecraft, and I love to watch it grow. I am making this stand now, so they can understand this. We are paying attention to what happens, and follow the patterns of the games before it. I'd really rather not see it go down the path a lot of other franchises have gone and literally selling out. Once again I never said they don't deserve what they've earned, and I'm not demanding they fix anything. I am a concerned customer who wants nothing but the best to come in the future, for one of my favorite games. I can see in everything you've said, that you read one or two posts as you scrolled through, got aggravated and went straight to the bottom to vent or as I'd like to call it crying/whining. If you don;t believe what we believe that's fine. It's called an opinion, and to feed more negativity to the situation your just making you and everyone around you more uncomfortable. You act like I plan to file some sort of lawsuit. I have exactly the opposite view.
I'll repeat it in capital letters so you don't miss the point this time.
I AM A CONCERNED CONSUMER, WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEE MINECRAFT PROGRESS IN THE BEST POSSIBLE MANNER FOR IT'S COMMUNITY.
Yes I'm frustrated with some things that have happened over the past few updates.
Yes I do feel that with the growth this game has taken it deserves the reinvestment and more extensive attention.
Beyond that if you think this is the only thing I'm involved in, or worry about. You can personally make note that I volunteer my time to help the needy. Whether this be at a Food Bank, or helping the homeless get back on their feet. On top of running my own business and taking care of my family. I am simply addressing my concern and if that really does offend you the way it seems to, then that's your problem. The only statement I read that I believe made in sense in those last 3 posts was "One day you and everyone you know will be gone from this world. I highly doubt anyone is going to look back in 100 years and go "Remember how those people tried to change how Minecraft was developed?"
Let me also remind you this is not Simcity, nor Mass Effect, Mcdonalds, or anything else you'd like to compare it to. Minecraft started and has stayed it's own game and will follow it's own path. I'd believe you do live in a basement if you can't realize that.
Beyond all else before you reply take this into consideration.
Whether you believe you can do something, or you can't do something you are always right.
I believe I can make a point that may impact the development of this game.
It's obvious that you don't believe in much of anything let alone yourself.
Thanks again for reading!

Wow, you use a pretty wide brush. But what would I know. I'm a jr high dropout, eat at McDonalds, shop at wal-mart. And was homeless before there was a shelter for homeless kids. I also try not to insult people when they don't see my point of view. So please continue to tell me how to be a better person, consumer, gamer. Maybe you could give me advice on how to run my business. My likewise useless wife and I probably aren't doing it right. I look forward to more of your posts so I can improve my life.
Minecraft is so bugged right now on the Xbox that it's not even funny, it has no hope of even catching up to the PC version at this point. The word really needs to be spread about this and make the developers aware of this crap.
Beyond that and this is directed at the 3 comments after it. Show me where I said "They've made too much money."
You didn't say that exactly but in your OP you did say, "I feel it is unjust for any company to profit that much without reinvesting in itself, and us, the community are the ones who suffer from it. "
We could be charged for each update. Instead we continue to get free content.
Does it have bugs?
Yes, all programs have bugs. Bugs cannot all be found until at the end user, this is something that has been true in computing since day one. Heck some of the cartridges for my Vic 20 or my Atari even had bugs in them and there was NO way of fixing that.
And Shadow_Viper_vx the developers are well aware of the problem. Continually ranting about it isn't helping any at all. It's getting fixed. It takes time. The game is hardly unplayable with the bugs.
You can't treat the console and the PC the same.
When one gets a badly broken PC update, you can just play the old version instead and even play with friends on that version still.
When a badly broken update hits the PC the patch is usually a day or 2. Not the current shortest patch for the 360 version of Minecraft which was 3 weeks 5 days.
When a badly broken update comes out on the PC there are usually modders that have put out mods within hours to fix it until an official fix comes out.
Give all those features to the console version of Minecraft, then you can treat it with the same ship it untested mentality. Otherwise the testing and implementation needs to be dramatically different. That should be such a simple concept. It is the basic premise of a console is that it is not the same as a PC and things are expected to just work.
For those saying whining, etc. Look at my Join Date. I've owned the PC version since before the 360 version existed. Look at my post history, have I ever once complained about bugs on the PC version. No, not even game breakers, because of the very fact the PC and console are different. Heck, I've never even complained about the 360 before TU9.
This topic is so full of contradictions its unreal!
On the one hand your screaming for them to get updates out faster, and on the other you want less buggy versions released, can't have one without the other you know, and 4J is pretty much following the PC updates, and doing a hell of a job.
Being somewhat of a developer myself, you can plan and debug for ages and swear you got all the bugs, bug I guarantee you that for each one you found another 10 are waiting, and 4J has done a hell of a job giving us as reliable builds as possible. You have to remember that the PC version (which I own and play more), has pretty much weekly snapshots released that allows Jeb to pretty much have millions test his builds, before he releases a 'public' version. 4J doesn't have this option because of M$ policy, and you can't point the finger here at M$ either. M$ has to protect there console, servers and assets. If the wrong line of code got executed with the millions playing MC it could....bring Xbox to a screeching halt. This is the reason for certification. Not to find bugs in the game, but to make sure the game doesn't bring Xbox down or cause console malfunctions. To basically protect YOUR gaming experience when playing online via a xbox.
Honestly this thread is joke, stop ing and moaning and be grateful for what 4J has done for us. They could have dropped us long ago, they have after all made there money, but do they no, they continue working on giving us 'free' updates, even after all the ing we do, bless their hearts.
Can I say something.... I personally don't feel entitled or as if any of the Companies involved in this game owe me anything.. Which they really don't..... they've improved a game I have ALREADY paid for...for free... so that's cool with me.
........ So if the next update puts the game back to where it stood as I bought it 1.7.3 ... then again... $20.00 well spent!
I'm just happy they try their hardest to update it (ForFree)... then they break it... then they fix it... then they break it... then they fix it... then they break it... then they fix it!.. It's a beautiful cycle!

Retired StaffThanks again for reading!

Retired StaffThank you for a sensible post.
They really need to fix all of those glitches quickly! :I
You didn't say that exactly but in your OP you did say, "I feel it is unjust for any company to profit that much without reinvesting in itself, and us, the community are the ones who suffer from it.
They could have dropped us long ago, they have after all made there money, but do they no, they continue working on giving us 'free' updates, even after all the ing we do, bless their hearts.
