How is it you guys (and gals) deal with Griefers? Personally, nobody gets privileges when they join my map. And I'm quick to kick, un-friend somebody if they smell like a Griefer. But with spawn eggs it has an additional difficulty added in. Even though they only had the ability to open doors somebody was still able to try to grief my world. I have a line of dispensers set up and they tossed in a bunch of Creeper Eggs. Now thankfully I caught it, my world was on creative, and I was able to kick them before they could do anything. But my question still stands, how do you peoples deal with and prevent Griefers?
Also could we set up a Minecraft XBLA Griefer list? It would be nice if we had a way to "cross-check" somebody before we added them.
It is against the rules to post XBOX gamer tags of known griefers. I would check the forum rules to make sure but I do recall seeing that posting names is a big no no on here.
I remember this topic being discussed several months ago. At that time, a griefer gamertag list was a no go with the forum admins due to difficulties with people publishing gamertags of other people who may be innocent and the he said/he denies wars that would inevitably arise. I doubt anything has changed since then.

You could put the trust players thing on. It works like a charm. Another method which I don't like much but works is putting your game on peaceful. They still spawn animals but those shouldn't reallly be much of a threat compared to the enemy ones.
Here's what I do, people that I know in real life can build and people that are other players can't build when I'm in creative mode. Hope that helps. I just don't trust anyone on Xbox live on my huge world, that's just me though. Hope that helps.

Add me if you like I play mostly COD, but I do play alot of Minecraft also.
From what I'm reading, you already had Trust Player's unchecked and had only given them back the privilege to open doors.. yet they were able to place spawn eggs in a dispenser. I would probably report this as a loophole/glitch in the trust options. Perhaps the "open door" policy should be changed to not include dispensers (Sorry, just couldn't resist the bad pun.) Until they get around to fixing it, perhaps your best bet is to also leave the world on peaceful difficulty.
The simplest and most effective way NOT to deal with griefers is to simply either check the "offline game" option or, my personal favorite, the "invite only" option, similar to that of an Xbox live party. These options are accessible right before loading up a world. Another suggestion is to file a complaint or player review on the said griefer to prevent future problems. Hope this helps
On MCXBLA, I just play in single player (Sorry, but I just don't think an expensive subscription is worth it). There's no griefers in that world
On the PC version, I'm just very careful about who I let on my server. You should set up a whitelist thread and when people appear to have put a good ammount of effort into their whitelist, you add them. Granted, you might still run the risk of letting griefers on your world, but the number of griefers should be much smaller.

Like people have already noted, you can't add a list of known griefers. When considering adding someone to your whitelist, you can always do a quick look on the forum to see if they're in good standing with other servers they've played on.
Playing offline is not possible for the map I'm worried about. It started as me messing around almost a year ago to turning into a massive city with 42 individual houses that will be an RPG/hungersgames/adventure style map when we finish it in creative and I kinda need people, lol. Thanks for the idea on reporting it though peoples, I sent a message to 4JSteve detailing the events and asked if maybe they could include spawn eggs in the privileges section.
This doesn't really apply to your situation, running an RPG server and all. I'm just really picky about who gets privileges in my world. In most cases, it has to be someone who pursues the same genre of building as me. This way I know they have a passion for the kind of project I'm working on, and they will understand how much effort went into it. Yeah... not many people have helped out in my builds. =P
EDIT: Also, griefer list, bad idea. Somebody tried to start one here almost a year ago. It lasted a day before a mod closed it. I've also seen one on the "Official" MCXBLA Forum, (back when it still existed) where it was not against the rules. That one had a slightly improved system, where a player would need to be voted on three times to be added to the list. Even then, some pretty big fights started, a lot of times griefers will actually report someone they griefed, that way if the victim tries to report them they will look like the bad guy trying to trick everyone.

I forgot to mention that it is on creative now, but will be survival hence the rpg style play I mentioned. Just want to make sure that is clear as I realized I messed up in my previous post and have since edited it.
Simply put: Kick anyone you don't know...or make online game "Invite only." OR if you want to counter-grief them, save a backup of your world and then let them do their thing.
Re-load the shiny, clean world and have them rage.
Also I found this semi-fitting picture this morning...
Stop them from opening containers and then they can't open dispensers.
That is very good to know, thanks man.
I still really hope they will give us host options to control the use of spawn eggs (i.e. spawn eggs work/don't work).
Oh and as it sits,
I have auto save off,
they get no privileges when first joining,
randoms usually don't get added as friends,
if someone "begs" for privileges then they never get them,
before anybody can get build privileges you have to have a mic and be on the map for at list 15-20 talking to me before I consider privileges,
and I usually follow new people around like an invisible satellite, watching their every move
Is there anything I else I can do besides completely shutting my map off from everybody's enjoyment?

Blacklists and threads requesting that a certain player be banned are not allowed.
Thanks guys. I caught my first griefer yesterday on my map and thankfully he didn't do any damage.
Anybody have ideas about what to do with the spawn eggs and prevent grieving from them?

Not a bad idea. It would only be for when I'm though because if I'm not on, my map is not on.
damn bro, what kind of mic do you have?
Its the XR-420 with 5-D rendering and "smell-o-vision".
Oh, and by the way, Zombie's smell something awful while the creepers smell like fresh apple pie.
